Guest idol_wild
Anyone else fancy Dundee Utd to split the old firm this season? I reckon it'll finish Celtic, Utd. Rangers. In a word? No.Dundee United do not have the officials and the media wanking over their every move.I feel in terms of individuals and as a unit, Dundee United are the third best side in Scotland, but I still feel they'll be around 10 points behind second-placed Rangers this season.I sort of wish Dundee United had a really good supporter-base. Everything seems to be in place for long-term progress, apart from the attendances. Which is a bit of a pity.
Alphas
Anyone else fancy Dundee Utd to split the old firm this season? I reckon it'll finish Celtic, Utd. Rangers.I actually reckon Utd may struggle a bit more this year as I think they'll come up against a lot more defensive tactics. A compliment for them as they have played so well over the last year. Certainly top 6 finish and a difficult team to play against though.I'm not writing off the huns either. Losing Boyd was a massive loss but they seemed to be galvanised from last season's troubles and I think they'll continue that. May not be enough to win the title but I reckon they'll be there or thereabouts. Just as long Lafferty doesn't have a good season, the fucking bawbag.I'm looking forward to seeing the Dons and the new signings. I'm hoping we're going more organised and determined and if we can keep Pawlett and Aluko fit we'll create chances. Can't see us pushing for the Euro spot in the league or anything but optimistic we'll see an improvement from last year...and obviously the cup double. That's a stick on. Adam Easy Wishes
Chick Young reckons his mate has got Dundee Utd +22pts at 9/1 to win the SPL.That's a great bet if it actually exists.

Christy
There is some truth to the toaster story. The story I was told when I worked there (circa 2001) was that the fire alarm had been set off by someone burning their toast on more than one occasion causing a false alarm call-out for the Fire Brigade which resulted in a 300 fine. The players were banned from having a toaster in that room after that. What did save us from relegation when we came bottom of the league and Falkirk came top of the First Division?Yeah but the myth is that we ditched the toaster because we were busto, which is ridiculous. When we finished bottom and Falkirk finished top, we were due to have a relegation playoff. Automatic relegation was never on the cards that season. Their stadium being incomplete made it moot.
Guest Gladstone
Obviously false. The idea of Chick Young having a mate is ludicrousI was in a hotel pub in Glasgow the night before we beat Ukraine 3-1 (oh, remember those heady days?) and Chick Young was there surrounded by loads of guys, with Chick Young pretty much holding fort the entire evening.I don't know if they were his mates, but it kind of looked like it. Maybe they were just getting him pissed so they could give him a shoeing and pull at his beard later on.
Guest Gladstone
BBC Sport - Football - Aiden McGeady completes record move to Spartak MoscowGood or bad move for McGeady?Great for Celtic money wise!I think it will be a good move for McGeady. Any time I can remember watching any Eastern European teams, they play far better football than we do in this country. It should suit his game more. He's still young, so a good couple of seasons in Moscow, and he might get the move he wants to the EPL.He is very very talented, but has lacked end product for Celtic a lot of the time. But I do think his main problem has been he's been surrounded by shit players. He gets doubled up on all the time in the SPL, but his team-mates haven't been intelligent enough to exploit the obvious hole that should leave in the opposition's defence.[EDIT - I've just read that sentence back, and it's gay-porn-tastic]If McGeady had been this age during the era of Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Moravjik, Petrov etc etc. he would have looked 10 times the player he is now, because teams just couldn't afford to double up on anyone because we had quality all over the pitch. That's why under O'Neill we really took teams apart a lot of the time. Now, we only ever seem to have one or two real "dangermen", so teams generally manage to nullify the threat, and that's where the boring, slow "patient" football has stemmed from. We used to be able to play explosive football and defences couldn't cope.I think McGeady will flourish in Russia.
Alan Cynic
I think Russian football will be better so he'll struggle, and be back at Celtic in the not-too-distant future.

Jeanette
I'm currently mulling over how cold (or how warm) it may be today... and if it'll rain (standing in the subway queue in the rain isn't much fun). I've forgotten how many layers are required for August games since it was mostly freezing all of last season! Also, still trying to work out if James Beattie is actually a good signing. Hmmm.
