would love to start using active monitors' date=' but don't really know that much about them, or what would be a good choice. my hifi has no realistic bass response, which is shit. if possible, would like to use the spdif connectors on the delta 66 as outputs, as they are currently unused.

next purchase will probably be some active monitors when i work out what i need and i have some money again, or a new PC. want to get dual opterons![/quote']

Not that many active monitors with sp/dif inputs on the market at the moment. I was in Sound Control Edinburgh the other week and they had a stack of Edirol/Roland powered monitors for around 80, although I suspect they aren't much better than PC speakers.

Genelec, Mackie, KRK are all worth a look. I wouldn't really rate the Alesis monitors. Its one area you really do get what you pay for.. just my opinion - you really need to listen and compare a few brands side by side.

Does this improve it? I fancy one but the tuning stability is bollocks with the floating trem, and it buzzes like an angry bee. Bet that was pricey and annoyingly slow to mod.

Sounds like an awful lot of 'working' in 'jobs' required, thats dedication, I myself have a minimal work ethic and as a result a minimalist kitlist.

Squier Tele, Late 80's in Bilious Mustard, 125 quid 2nd hand in 1992 (R&B in Rosemount)

MISSING-Peavey Renown 112, 150 last june in Glasgow

Boss ME-50, 210 from R&B

PC-750Mhz Duron

Logic 5 + many various VSTs

M-Audio Delta 44

Ernie Ball Super Slinkys

Jim Dunlop Green Tortex.

But I want a guitar synth more than anything, maybe the new Roland GR 20

Third Stake in a Roland JP 8000

rarely used MC-303.

er thats it.

The GR-20 is great i bought one a few months ago and im very pleased with it. takes a whle to get the Pickup tracking at a decent rate but its very fun, especially layering sounds like strings o flute over your guitar :)

Might be worth investing more to get it fully integrated with the guitar, in the bridge saddles, so its optimised. That would be the business in a nice Tele.

I quite like the idea of playing mad analog ripping leads, ideally on something like the midi Moog Voyager *drifts off to fantasy rich land*

Escuse my ignorance, but would this guitar/synth be able to handle note bending, slide's etc, the subtleties?

Most reviews of the GR-20 say, Yes, when properly set up. Also you can blend the synth tone with the natural guitar tone to capture any subtleties tnat the synth cant.

Fat Lead Synth + Ripping lead Tone =? Some sort of 'end of the world' sound hopefully.

All hypothetical at the moment anyway, for me at least.

ive had a gr-20 for a while....u can program weather the synth responds in a semi tone integral response (ie stepped) as you bend a string....or respond with psuedo infinite tone response...ie a bend...as standard the piano sounds tend to have a stepped response to a bend where most "synth" sounds respond as iff u had made a deflection in the tone wheel.... a lot of fun...ez to get going...a lot of good sounds....(a few crap ones too) i'd recommend one...
