jonty84
I'm sure this one's been asked before but it never grows old.....what's the best gig you've ever been to, when and where was it and why? To start us off, mine was probably Metallica in the RDS in Dublin in 2003, simply because I'd waited 6 years to see them and they were fucking marvellous. delboy
got loads but the one i'd go for would be the charlatans at the brixton academy in london in 1995 - awesome!
Darth Elvis
Loads, but probably Faith no More at the Glasgow Barrowlands on Album of the year tour.
Jimmy Lucifer
There's a few. Jimmy Eat World at the QMU a couple of years a go was awesome, purely because I'd been waiting to see them for ages. The Wildhearts in Edinburgh, Tool at the Barras and Metallica at Reading would have to be up there too.

Alan Cynic
I know I'll miss obvious ones out, but off the top of my head....probably The Who (Parkhead '75)...a massive event, with the band on top form, ace laser light show, plus great support from Widowmaker, Alex Harvey, the Outlaws, Streetwalkers, Little Feat. Closely followed by these ones.....Led Zeppelin (Earl's Court 75)Rolling Stones (Apollo 76)Roy Harper (Usher Hall 75)Jesus & Mary Chain (Venue ?)Martin Carthy (Hillhead 73)Yes (Music hall (73?)Genesis (Music hall 73?)Gong/Kevin Coyne (Music hall 75ish)Slim Gaillard (Renfrew Ferry)Pixies (the Venue,89)Townes van Zandt (Lemon Tree 90s)Love (Lemon Tree -1st time)Sonic Youth/Mudhoney (Glasgow 89)Lou Reed (Edinburgh Playhouse late 80s)Velvet Underground (Playhouse 93?)Anne Briggs (Trades Union Club, Abdn 73ish)Diamanda Galas (NYC 02)Also lots of stuff put on by the Interesting Music folks recently....Thomas Truax, Schwervon, Charlemagne, Puerto Muerto etc etc etc

Other acts include Jurassic 5, Billy Bragg,Pennywise though my number one would be The Freaks Union. Amazing punk act now on Deck Cheese Records. This was a hometown show for them back in Hull in feb 2003. It was an anti-war event and after the march, the hull anti-war movement and all of Freaks Unions fanbase went to the welly for what was the most powerful punk act in the world today. The pit was a place of positivity as we marched to the beat of the "no-war" intro. So, very moving.

pete_inthehills
my bestest gig has to be new model army at the International II in manchester in 1990, or Pop will eat itself at the same place in the same year. The whole crowd from front to back knew the words and it was one massive mosh pit.although I saw a band called "...and all because the lady loves", (they were a female trio with hauntingly beautiful songs) at the Duchess in Leeds. Much too talented to become popular and successful.Pete
