Whatever happened to Tandy and Dixon shop windows enticing high street shoppers by rigging up a camcorder to a TV set, and catching your attention by putting you on the telly? If there's anyway way to pull me in to a shop to buy C batteries in bulk or a 4 way extension, putting me on the telly should just about do it.

It can probably be blamed for the recession.

They got fed up with folk re-enacting the start of 'Peep Show'.

Why does hot water clean things better than cold water?

It has a higher density and mass due to it's molecules moving further apart/closer together, I forget but Im sure its something to do with it/or not i could just be making this stuff up/but Im not.

[scenario] Your in the bath, there's a patch of cold water near your ass amoung a hot bath, does bobbing up and down in the bath move this or mix this patch of cold water? [/scenario]

Also, if you remove the plug does the denser cold water leave the tub first even though the bath is moderated by one temprature, this one patch that always emminates is there, but will it be there if you take out the plug?

Furthermore, isn't there some law of motion that suggests for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction? Aye, well I sneezed in the bath and the reaction was well worse than the action. It's the law.. so did I break the law, am I a motion criminal?

That's chemistry 101 lucky! Heat aids solubility. As does agitation. Or something.

Pretty much that, but it wont exactly be cleaning in a sterilising sense. I suspect that Ryan may have done experiments using soapy water at varying temperatures... It's great being a scientician, as I get to pretend to be super knowledgeable about science and that.

Why does hot water clean things better than cold water?

Heat is basically molecules vibrating faster. If they vibrate faster then it's all the more likely that a bit of agitation will free the bonds to it's fellow molecules.

The main benefit of hot water over cold is that it vibrates fat molecules to the point where they liquefy.Basically turning them into oil.

Oil is not soluble in water. Detergent has one end of the molecule soluble in oil and the other in water. It works by covering the surface of the oil, basically coating it in a water-soluble 'paint', so it can dissolve in the water rather than reattach itself to what you want cleaned.

Agitation breaks the oil droplets up into even smaller ones, increasing the surface area and allowing more detergent molecules to attach themselves to the oil.

The only reason you would in the first video is because she's done up in a 70s stylee and it conjurs up nostalgiawank possibilities harking back to your dad's stash of Club and Men Only that you found hidden aged 12 and grainy fifth generation VHS tapes of ropey porn.

You just KNOW that it's like a rhododendron under there, and you love it.
