U21 team just won their qualifying group, and they've done well in tournaments in recent years - have we not even won trophies in recent years at youth level?Yet - we've never been past the first round of a major tournament, and haven't qualified for anything in 12 years.Why the massive gulf?I watched some of that U21 game just now, and there are definitely some talented players in that team. Adam Easy Wishes Posted September 7, 2010 Report Share Posted September 7, 2010 I have a theory that because our youth systems have primarily been aimed at massive, tall, strong players and less about technique, even at U21 level this means that we win more games than we probably should.Thats why why it comes to full international level, by the time the players Scotland beat at U21 level are man-size, they also have the technique they need to succeed at the highest level, not just the physique.
