Alkaline
I was meaning about how different drugs effects different people under the influence of drugs. Not about the characteristics of people who solicit drugs.I'm inclined to believe the Doctor in this case.

keeno
High value notes arouse more suspicion because they yield more profit as forgeries so there is more incentive for criminals to attempt to forge them. Also if it is a fake, your business has been screwed over for a fair amount. I don't see a huge amount of them either, it is mostly tourists are given them by the bureau de change and use them in my work.I used to work in a petrol station where we were paid in cash. I once walked into the bank with about £600 in £50 notes that was a months wages. Now that must have looked dodgy! It probably would be much easier to get away with forging £5 notes as they quite often are old and tatty anyway, in addition to the point about high value notes being more obvious targets for forgery. kybosh
What annoys me about Payday loan companies is that it is quite clearly the government's attempt to wangle some extra wonga out of a legitimate loan shark system. How does the government benefit from payday loans or am I being thick ?? keeno
How does the government benefit from payday loans or am I being thick ??Presumably they have to pay tax unless they are operating some Starbucks-esque franchise and have their head office in a tax haven? kybosh
Tax.See above , any company that is smart enough to get away with charging 1000 + % interest will be far too smart to be paying any tax on their profits , I doubt the government see anything at all from this
Scootray
They also create joabs.

Not all companies dodge UK tax. It's also the sort of practice (payday loans that is) that given the negative perception from the media/general public the government would feel obliged to "get tough on" if they weren't generating a few notes out of it. Turning a blind eye and all.
Adam Easy Wishes
They don't have to be smart to charge 1000%+ interest, it's not like they have a loophole to find.
Gypsum_Fantastic
Out of interest, how much is she paying back?I think she has to pay back £56.50 or something but she is paying it back a day early so could be a little cheaper. Soda Jerk
Rainwater leaks at Christmas. Pretty much have to put up with it until the new year when the lettings agents' contractors are back. I thought it was because it was of a hole in the brickwork, but it's a roof and gutter issue. So I've got washing up bowls by the window, and it's pretty much meant to rain for the entire festive period. Ace.
Scootray
I'd think they'd want to sort that ASAP 'cos that'll start causing damp.

Chris
Yesterday we got home to find a card from Yodel in the door. They'd left a delivery "around back". A large cardboard box. Left uncovered in the back garden. Yesterday.Predictably as soon as my wife picked it up the box disintegrated. Thankfully it was only a new scratching post for the cats and was wrapped in plastic inside the box so the item itself wasn't wet.
