Pierre Von Mondragon
Historical Awesomeness 1- Aberdeen had 2 universities when the whole of England also only had 2.Historical Awesomeness 2- There are no Viking sites anywhere near the North East, despite it being closest to the bittie far they came fae.Historical Conclusion- Aberdeen is and was full of fuckers that are smarter AND harder than everywhere else.Living in the West End of Glaswegia is alright, but it is full of divs. The rest of it though, fuck's sake, oocha min, etc.

Lemonade
Had to walk back to a mates house in the West End of Glasgow from Ivory Blacks at 3am a couple Saturdays ago. Aberdeen is a veritable utopia compared to Glasgow in that instance. In fact, we were in Glasgow for a whole 2 minutes before some cunt leaned out the side of a limo to say "Your hair is pure manky by the way big man, BOB MARLEY NO SURRENDER!".Place is a fucking shit hole populated by a fuck load of utter cretins.I came out of a pub in Glasgow last year and the barmaid, knowing I wasn't a local, said to me on the way out "get home safe, don't talk to anybody, get a taxi if you can". Man did that make me feel safe.
Jaaakkkeee
Only thing that doesn't make me feel safe in Glasgow is the fact you get searched before going to certain pubs. That means if you don't get searched you might get stabbed.
fatboy
Aberdeen has 2 rivers, one in the north and one in south. many other cities only have one.
Johnny Mac
Aberdeen has 2 rivers, one in the north and one in south. many other cities only have one. This is not necessarily a good thing due to all the traffic trying to cross said rivers.

Jaaakkkeee
I wasn't saying it was shocking. Just saying the shire tends to be nicer than Aberdeen City.

jcn
Another thing that makes this place unique - Doric. It's not like I come from some far-off land (Cumbernauld) but when I moved up here people might aswell have been speaking in Russian
fatboy
I don't like how doric is treated as lower-level (in terms of class)
Jaaakkkeee
Yeah, even I have started looking down on those who speak it and I hate myself for it.
Guest E.C
Yeah, even I have started looking down on those who speak it and I hate myself for it.not sure you're in a position to look down on anyone.
fatboy
I've known people who have grown up in aberdeen and don't speak a word of doric.Saddens me greatly, why is it viewed as common or clatty as I would say.having doric makes me feel good, a sense of belonging to this area.
Jaaakkkeee
I think it's a beautiful thing. But there was a guy in work today speaking it and around well spoken people, in a professional environment, with the Aberdonian accent, it doesn't sound nice. It's amazing with a shire accent though. Soda Jerk
I think a very broad and strong regional accent/dialect is often considered very common regardless of the area.I'm personally not a fan of broad dialects and accents. It just sounds like people are purposely mispronouncing words for the sake of it. In Yorkshire, they simply just don't finish words, and miss as much of the word out as possible until it is on the cuff of being indistinguishable. waltz
I speak the Queen's English, can't abide by all that "ken min" stuff, it's all frightfully vulgar.
