ca_gere
IMDB is ace-ic. It's fucking incredible. Watched a film last night - 'Deception' with Andie Mcdowell and Viggo Mortenson. My GF and I couldn't figure out what Andie Mcdowell's first big film was so we naturally IMDBd her (turns out it was probably Sex, Lies and Videotapes). The film had this weird David Lynch feel to it so I imdbd the director and sure enough... he was involved in Twin Peaks. Then there's a scene in the film with this crazy open lift thing where people just jump out on their floor - looking in the discussion forum for the film (why the fuck is there even one for a film noone cares about?!), someone had the same thought as us - what the fuck is that elevator thing. Someone else gives the answer.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paternoster and thus we learned what a 'Paternoster' is. Point of the story... I could spend hours on that site/app going down little rabbit holes of information. The goofs/trivia are particularly ace-ic. It's great that it exists. Good job. Gypsum_Fantastic
Also ace-ic is IMCDB the Internet Movie Car Database or something along those lines. No where near as well maintained but good for the petrol heads.
Paranoid Android
DJ / Techno producer Levon Vincent posted this on his facebook page today. This is extremely ace-ic, one of the coolest things I've things I've read in a long time. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=638965879478295&id=184486851592869 My friends, my career has gone well these past few years. I have debts and a lot of overhead these days, but I am working hard and I'm very proud to say I have achieved a situation where I have steady work. Things are optimistic for me for at least a year or two. I am ready to start sponsoring / apprenticing people. Maybe one musician at a time. Let's develop something. A 'tourist' can live legally in Berlin for 90 days. I want to begin supporting an up-and-comer for 90 day segments, essentially I will pay your rent for 3 months in Berlin, likely a room for rent in a flat where we know music-making will be allowed. We have to find one. We got resources and a community. I got a little bit of kit to kick down too. Monitors, at least. We'll get you sorted out. And I'll check in with you once a month or whatever. Maybe I can offer some guidance too. Basically I want to facilitate your 24/7 music making. And your partying, too. As long as that's musical. Please send some of your demos, (2 songs only), via soundcloud links to levonvincent@hotmail.com. Subject "bootcamp"If I can find someone to believe in, then I can help care for your living expense while you take a small time out of your life to focus solely on your own craft. 3 months should be enough time to learn a thing or two. Think of it as bootcamp. You must be completely committed to your craft. Anything else is secondary, and I'll know immediately from the first beat of your demo so don't front! I'm looking forward to hearing some new world sounds. Thank you for participating. cool man, cool songs
Soda Jerk
When couriers completely go against your negative perception of them, and give you way-good service. The past couple of days, I was getting updates by text message as to where my parcel was. I even got an apology, as some major roadworks caused huge delays over the weekend. The guy arrived to deliver today, but I wasn't home. He phoned me, and I told him when I would be home, and he came back at that time. The courier? Yodel.

Lemonade
Yeah Joda, this is the ace-ic thread, not the make shit up thread.
James Broonbreed
I get the impression Yodel couriers are just helping out a mate. They always seem to wear velour tracksuits and drive around in their own car. Also, they still use pens.

Soda Jerk
Give Yodel a chance guys. They're making amends, and all that. Their guys have got electronic handsets now and everything. Not a biro in sight.

Eupraxia
I don't normally post in this thread because, y'know, I'm a miserable bastard. But today I received an unsolicited 10% pay rise as recognition of my contribution over the past year. 10%! I feel like a politician or something, but without the enormous sense of self-interest and smugness. I'm more positively bewildered than smug. In off the red.
Monster Zero
"Paul and Pauline Calf's Video Diary" is available on DVD and it only costs about a fiver on Amazon. Best thing Coogan did next to Partridge.

Is it only really applicable if you've changed jobs recently or suchlike? I want money! If you've overpaid tax, they should just send you a cheque.Check if you may be due a refund here: http://stccalculator.hmrc.gov.uk/UserDetails.aspx
