colb
Don't get me wrong I've been loving most of Fenders recent output. Some of the Modern Player guitars are mental value for money. I just don't see the point in this particular guitar. It will sound exactly the same as his other models and the neck is exactly the same. Body is just a different shape.I feel that the effort put into making this guitar could have been spent on maybe something a bit different. Re-issue of the Cyclone, new intresting pawn shop ideas etc.I'm a total Fender fanboy, but that Jim Root thing sucks. It's everything that's wrong about signature guitars. Jaaakkkeee
Our old guitarist got a jim root strat. Point? Just ruins a strat. You want metal, get a metal guitar, don't ruin good guitars with your divebomb shit.
Bigsby
The point of it is a Jazzmaster body is cooler than a strat body.
James Broonbreed
The Fender Guitar Company. I love Fender guitars but it blows my mind that they churn out shit like this.Spoilered for size. A Jim Root Jazzmaster, featuring the same pickups, neck profile, paint job and black hardware that his signature Strat and tele have. What is the point? It really is a ugly looking fucker. It just looks cheap and nasty and pish. It's fuckin' root, min.
Bigsby
Damn these companies making products that we don't have to buy.
James Broonbreed
Sorry to have opined about the looks of one of their products. It is really ugly, root and pish looking, you must admit.
Alkaline
It is really ugly, root and pish looking, you must admit. So's yer Ma, but I'm not buying her either so there isn't an issue.

Chris
That awkward feeling you get trying to find a quiet place to speak to a recruiter on the phone in your current place of employment. Just spent 10 minutes conspicuously whispering into my phone in a tiny corridor between two larger corridors. Would've looked much less suspicious if I'd just stayed at my desk and shouted the conversation.

They generally ask if it's a good time to talk, I mostly say no if it's not and ask if I can call when I know people will be out of the office or I can take ten minutes and sit in my car. Aye they did that when they called me this morning and I suggested they phone back at lunch. But was harder to find somewhere quiet than I thought at lunchtime. It's stupid. Not as though there's anything wrong with having a look at what's out there or applying for new jobs.

Chris
Also, it's really frustrating when they say they'll call you back at a specific time and then don't do it. Especially if you're stepping out of the office for a minute. Or cold call your desk phone. Had that happen a couple of times (when I've not been looking so could just politely say I wasn't interested). My boss is fairly realistic, he knows we get approached by agencies. Still can't shake the feeling that it's going behind someone's back just to have a look.
Old Gold
I'd make it as apparent as possible that I was being head hunted.
ca_gere
Yeah, as Old Gold said it's better to be transparent with these things. It makes you look good to your current company anyway. Recruitment is a crazy business nowadays. It's pretty much straight up hard sales now.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
If I'm cold called at work by an agency, I refuse to speak to them and remind them that it is very unprofessional to approach me via a work contact.
