TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
BBC News - Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison tops magazine pollI'm not too aware of his drumming as I'm not a metal fan, but I am interested to see what other folk have to say about this.Personally, I can't see past Jimmy Chamberlin, but of course I'm biased! The Sloth
definitely not. I dont know who I'd choose but I wouldn't say Joey Jordison was even in the running for best metal drummer, never mind out of everything ever.
berni907
Neil Peart, Bill Bruford... there's so much better than Joey Jordinson in my opinion. At the end of the day it's all about taste in music. I don't think there's a "greatest" instrumentalist/singer at all.
Chris
Come on, surely it's Travis Barker...
GyRoKoPtEr
"Jordison beat off competition from Nirvana and Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl and Phil Collins to win the poll for UK magazine Rhythm."That just proves how valid this vote really is if Phil Collins and Dave Grohl can make the top ten of a "Best Drummers of the last 25 years" vote. Hugh_Jazz
"Jordison is noted for simultaneously playing two bass drums" What an innovator.
Monster Zero
Joey has proven himself equally adept outside of the confines of Slipknot, having worked with Korn, Rob Zombie, Murderdolls and more, as well as stepping in to save the day at the last minute when depping for Lars Ulrich at Download 2004Amazing ability to transcend genres.if you ask me Dave Grohl would be much preferable remaining behind the drum kit these days, just needs to go back to quality material circa 'Songs For the Deaf' rather than Them Crooked Vultures..... delboy
These polls are such a waste of time, dunno why they bother. Must have been a slow news month. In answer to the question..... no!

TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
One of the more amazing things about this story is that it shows that drummers can read. Arf.
Soda Jerk
He's under the umbrella of "hitting lots of things at once really fast", therefore must be great. Like shred guitarists, who hammer loads of frets within fractions of a second, so must be great guitarists. Personally, I prefer simple drums, with flair used in moderation. The rhythm section is the engine room. No time for fannying about.
Monk Rocker
I like his style, but he's definately not the best drummer of the last 25yrs. These polls really are pointless. Basically how many kids can you get to click a mouse. It's got nothing at all to do with drumming.
HateEvent
Dennis Chambers, Mike Mangini, Derek Roddy, Danny Carey. They are better than Joey Jordison.IN MY OPINION.That's why polls are stupid and meaningless.
Woodsinho
I'd say it's between me and Meg White, we should get together and fight it out. I say fight...

Monster Zero
Personally I find the base simplicity of Meg White's drumming to be far more appealing than a lot of the twiddly-dee drummers who just distract from the music. Meg's drums fit perfectly with the riffs. That's all that matters.

That's all that matters. At the risk of sounding a bit Tap, Meg White's not a drummer, she's just someone that happened to be around at the right time to hit drums. Its a bit like Bob Hardy out of Franz Ferdinand - doesn't really play bass so much as operate it in much the same way someone operates a forklift.Meg and thingy out of Slipknot are at opposite ends of the spectrum though and I'm a fan of neither. As usual there's always a happy medium - hence Bill Bruford being my favourite drummer for the simple reason that he has both the chops AND the taste to know when to play and when not to play.
