All those guys are still doing the same lame ass moves they were doing 6 or 7 years ago. i was at the misery signals gig the other night and to be totaly honest i was quiet embaressed for the most part, guys swinging their arms around and punching thin air to act "hard" in front of girls?! come on now, if you were infact "hard" you wouldnt need to prove it by acting like a dick down the front of a gig. I know I was guilty of that in my mid-teens, when I was seeing all my favourites for the first time. Slam dancing is fucking stupid though, but equally, if not more stupid, is bands that get pissed off if you don't "slam" when they are playing. Singer from a band called Pulling Teeth, who supported Shooks Ones a few years back, starting charging fist first into the first few rows because everyone was stood still (because they were shite, no less). I took a fist right in the chest. Cunt.It was a weird gig. Lots of kids with shirts and caps that say "drug free youth", wearing tracksuit bottoms cut into shorts and Nike Shox, usually with one hand on their meat and veg, whilst the other swung around and punched people and shit. Luckily, the Shook Ones denounced slam dancing, and they all pissed off to the sides, to make room for the people who just wanted to have a good time.Maybe I'm just a grouch who hates fun, but what is fun about shitkicking each other? I did nearly get shitkicked myself when my old band supported some chuggachugga band, and their "roadies" or whatever were taking it in turns to do these slam moves, followed by full-on muscle flexing and kissing. It really was quite something. Anyway, I fancied a go myself, so I stepped in, did a couple of stretches, and dropped for a few press ups. I think I did it wrong, but it did put a stop to their backslapping porno, or whatever the fuck they were doing. One of them did give me a shoulder barge as I was leaving though. I thought I was going to get my head caved in. Good times.Hardcore is completely ruined by the shitclocks that populate it. Bunch of homoerotic botters performing gay burlesque. I used to think it looked stupid, but I was totally into metal then, I'm a lot more into hardcore now and think it's pretty cool. There are some inventive things out there really.
