I'd be pretty careful when trying it out then, I'm not sure what happens when you run positive and negative ground pedals from the same power supply, but I think it'll kill at least one of them, or tear the space time continuum, both are pretty bad.

I don't know what the timer chip does, but I'm pretty sure just swapping the +ve and -ve connectors will fry any polarised caps in the circuit. Are you sure that lead reverses polarity?

There's a freeware oscilloscope programe. Xoscope I think. Xoscope is the linux one, I think it's the same for windaes. Google freeware oscilloscope should do it.

It could is possible, but A humbucker sized p90 would be way easier, and it's half way between a single coil and a humbucker, plus it won't break the bank. If you want to learn, start with the easy stuff.

I don't know how else you would do it, in a more systematic manner maybe, or ask Jake to do it.

Neither of the boxes I built from there worked first time though, so I wouldn't sweat it, I used a multimeter to test mine, put power through the circuit and jabbed at different bits till I found a bit that seemed wrong. I'm pretty sure that's not the right way to do it, but it worked.
