My fucked knee.

Hurt it running a month ago and thought it was getting better. Went for an easy run last night just to test it out and it's now quite sore again. Fuck.

I'll see your one and raise you my two!

I got referred to Albyn from my doctor and they were really good. Was getting there with rehabilitating a years old injury to my right....before I went over my left :-( I have a health scheme through my work which allows 500 of physio treatment per annum if referred from your doctor. Don't know if you have similar? It's hoorin expensive to be paying yourself.

Nah, no private health care at my current employer. Haven't even got round to seeing my GP about it but after last night I probably will. Suspect all they're going to say is that it needs rest though.

It's frustrating as hell.

GP's are shite. They never do anything, other than tell you to come back if it persists, and when it does, they still do nothing. I've been complaining to the doctors about headaches since I was 11. 13 years later and I've had a box of just about every painkiller there is, and there's fucking loads. A paracetamol and a nap does the trick, but I'd rather they looked into why I'm getting them so often than just papering over the problem.

A few years ago, my foot had swollen up, and I couldn't walk on it. It felt like I'd broken a toe. I went to the doctors 3 times in the space of about 6 weeks. He just kept saying he didn't know what was wrong, and to "keep it elevated". Didn't even want to X-ray it. They wouldn't even give me crutches either, so I hobbled around for about 3 months. I eventually went to A&E since the doctors wouldn't do anything, and they just gave me a load of grief about how I should go see my GP about it.

This free Healthcare lark that those Americans are so jealous of is proper smart.

Yeah my GPs a cunt. Doesn't listen, gives me the 'there's nothing wrong with you line' and then after finally agreeing that maybe I could do with seeing a specialist, refuses me a referral to a podiatrist because I'm 'not old enough' so he sends me to the physio instead.

The physio was great, he hooked me up with a place to order inserts but hew couldn't really do much for me because he isn't a podiatrist.

So that was a waste of time and public money. I went private in the end, is there any point to this NHS thing if its precious resources re jealously guarded by retards?

Whats a GP going to do with an X-ray of your broken toe? All he's going to do is say: "Aye, your toe is broken. Try to stay off your feet as much as possible for a couple of weeks." Thats why you don't bother going to the GP about broken extremities, they wont do anything about them as there's nothing they can do. I broke my big toe clean in half and they didn't give me crutches. I just bandaged it up and got on with my shit. I'm well hard though, obv.

When I thought I'd broken my big toe a couple of months ago I called up the GP to make an appointment and they told me that there was nothing they'd be able to do and that I'd be better off going to A&E. So I went there, got an x-ray and when it turned out not to be broken the doctor told me how long I'd need to go easy on it before it would heal properly. The system works*

I broke part of my shin playing football once, by the time i went to the Doc about it the bit that had broken off had re-fused and there was nothing he could do other than tell me to take it easy. It's not like he could've done much other than that before anyway though.

The only reason i went in the first place was that it had been persistently sore for 6 months and i kept getting a bruise in the same spot when i was poking around at it.

For comparison, when I sprained my ankle in America, I had an X-Ray done in the same building, got an ankle brace fitted, a pair of crutches and a lovely big bottle of drugs. I didn't even get a prescription, he just said have that, but watch there might be double strength vicodins in there.

$550 though, there is a downside.

I tore a ligament in my knee, went to A&E, was seen quickly, had a x-ray done (just in case), just down the corridor with no waiting, given an appointment with an orthopaedic registrar two days later, and an ongoing open-ended consultation with a physiotherapist in my local health centre whenever I wanted it.

For free.

My previous story, some medication would have been awesome, or some advice, especially since he knew what was wrong with me.

Advice, fair enough.

Medication for medication's sake is just stupid. There's no point in him giving you something unless it's going to actually help (and presumably if there was a drug that could help you then you would be given it).

For free.

Not so, you pay for it through taxation and you probably only got mere codeine I suspect. vicodin is a beautiful thing, worth crossing the Mexican border for a good bulk deal even.

I had a high deductible on that healthcare plan so that's why I paid out of pocket. I've had better.

My house is like an icebox atm, NO heating whatsoever.....frigging BALTIC

We are having a new CH boiler & oil tank fitted today....so everything is off !

Its amazing how quick the temperature drops when there's no heating on !

My big thick wool jacket. I love it, but because it's made of heavy wool the fucker reeks of smoke all the time. As a smoker I am normally oblivious to the foul stench that follows me around 24 hours a day, but that jacket man, holy fuck even I can't stand the smell of that fucker, my whole office smells like jacket. I have to take it to get dry cleaned every few weeks, it's costing me almost as much as I spend on fags.

I didn't know if it was broken or not though. I just woke up one day and my foot was swollen all along the top, where the metatarsal and that is. I stood up out of bed and fell over as my foot gave way. I'd done nothing I know of to break a toe or a foot bone, nor did it look like anything was broken, but the pain I felt when I walked on it felt like something was broken, as it was impossible to support myself on it. I had to shuffle about on my heel or the side of my foot.

It was the whole "Don't know what it is. Oh well. Bye" approach from the doctor which was baffling, and it happens all the time. I don't think I've ever had a GP action any sort of ailment of mine, apart from prescribing anti-biotics. I'm pretty sure just about anyone could be a GP.

I've just logged into Myspace for the first time in ages. What in the name of holy fuck has happened? It's an absolute nightmare of second-hand ideas and mind-numbing drivel.

Seriously, who in their right mind would think anything about the new Myspace is good?

Ha, I've done the exact same thing tonight. Truly awful. Only useful for bands now and even then the new style profiles are shite.

Facebook and Bandcamp FTW!
