TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Since this month's Uncut magazine features their top 50 albums of the year (they said it was Zimmy's Modern Times) I thought I would make a thread to see what people have enjoyed most this year. For me, possibly Giant Drag's "Hearts and Unicorns" is on top, but Belle and Sebastian, Yeah Yeah Yeah's, The Like, Project: Ven Hell, Sonic Youth, Yo la Tengo, Cat Power, The Raconteurs, End of Everything, Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins all put out good records this year. So, WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ALBUM OF THE YEAR? Old Gold
Wow, I have Modern Times and it's good and all, but it really doesn't deserve being top of the heap.Best 2006 album I bought this year is Ballad of the Broken Seas by Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan.Oh aye, and the Holy Folks Short EP comes a close second. Larsen B
I was thinking of starting an albums of year thread, but thought it too early. Ah well, I made a list in my notepad in the library when i was bored about month ago, but it will probably need revision, and i am yet to properly digest the Jarvis album. The Milner
Christ!!!!!!!!!what?I was gonna put up the new TBS album but it sounds too much like the lost prophets to me, appart from that none of my fav bands have really releaced anything good this year. I got the new NFG album but its rubbish as is The Prophets one, Angels and Airwaves was awful and +44 is going to be awful. This has been a year of british music for me as im sure you can see. *Amy*
I, too, was thinking about this the other day. I'm particulary impressed byDesa - Arriving Alive. Just a fantastic rock album.Sonic Boom Six - A Ruff Guide to Genre-Terrorism. A massive step up from Sounds to Consume. It's got everything, delivered with balls. The King Blues - Under the Fog. Contemporary, meaningful, joyous. Makes you want to hug teddy bears.Others deserving a mention are The Fratellis' Costello Music, The Living End's State of Emergency, RX Bandit's ...And the Battle Begun, Get Cape's Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager and Zebrahead's Broadcast to the World.A FINE YEAR!
