Johnny Mac
Strange, I saw the doors open at lunchtime with signs up on all the windows, not that I was really paying attention as I meandered past.My mistake.

Paranoid Android
I'll be in Aberdeen in just over 3 weeks time. It would be nice if there is anything still open when I get there.Am I going to find Union street something like this?

russtyeh
There is another thread on this but this is relevant to Bruce Millers:Imported Instruments - Edinburgh Musical Instrument Shop - Aberdeen Store - (Powered by CubeCart)Pretty smart move, opening a new store where everyone shops and giving the staff from BM jobs there.Seems more viable than had they bought Bruce Millers. Chris
I see the EE are reporting that Stuart Clarkson (owner of Soul) has made a bid with a developer to buy the building. Sounds like exactly what Union Street needs - another massive pub.

Lethal10
He'll have to spend a fortune on the building, the roof is f****d,it leaks from top to bottom.Did he not already spend a fortune saving most of the features of the building that is now Soul?I'd say another big bar is better than an empty space though. Lethal10
True dat...i bet he got some sort of grants because it's a listed building. It was a taxi driver giving a couple of us an Aberdeen history lesson one night about building after one passenger said they were not that happy to see former churches used as pubs. Not sure if it's accurate but he seemed confident enough to say that the building had a lot of very serious stuctural defects and without the current owner spending millions of pounds of his own money to fix it, nobody would have saved it.
