Shit I forgot about WBL leaving Aberdeen.

I'd add Hearse Crash, Sidca and Data Thieves to my list. I've enjoyed Turning 13 and 10 Easy Wishes when I've seen them.

Bands I still have to see and make my mind up about for definite:

Quik, My Minds Weapon

Loaded, Lost

Dedalus, Real Shocks

Double Jack, Noise Pollution

Black Atom, Hot Mangu

The Diuretics, Spike Piledriver

Hexagonal Pensioners

X-Certs, Contra

Risactonia, Aprexia and the list goes on and on.

I think a lot of this is down to the getting inebriated and missing support acts syndrome that's plagued me since I was able to drink

Some serious early doors gigging is required methinks.

You should come along to see Spike Pile Driver support Breed 77 on the 25th at Kef:cheers:

Damn both these gigs are hit by my rubbiss work again - I work until 9 on Saturdays and 10 on Sundays so it means that I always get out too late to see the supports and only maybe catch the headliners. Might try and switch to 9-5s for this weekend though. What shameless gig plugging! ;)

I'll be there if I can.

I never knew you played in Dedalus. Although I thought it was fishy how one-up played your live cd once having never heard local stuff being played:P

I'll need to note that in my diary (for my memoirs), "person who lives in Texas has opinion on best Aberdeen band. What a strange day."

Ian sir

you could also note:

''a very rare day when a band from Aberdeen actually gets of its arse and wins over real audiences versus impressing mates in the local scene and message bored cliques''

but seriously (ish) a top ten of the Aberdeen bands who in my opinion could cut it in the real world (away from the safety of the scene) are:

The Cuts

XS Relocat

The Famous Prostitute

Sidca

Spike Pile Driver

erm, its not ten is it....

Data Theives

King Liar in the Brutes

Any band Ive forgot to mention that are doing something good**

imo* all these bands should be pushing like fuck to play Go North and get themselves dead good contacts for gigging all over the place (its not actually about signing to Sony)

*Abbreviation of "In my Opinion"

**inseted to make sure nobodies feelings get hurt

Thats very polite but don't you mean Don't like listening to all that often because what you've written implies you just haven't heard them all too often?

I disagree. I don't think many bands need the "safety" of the scene, whatever that is. It might come as a shock to you but an audience from Texas is no more real than an audience from Torry. Well done for going out there and doing it, but it doesn't mean you have to look down your nose at what's happening on your front doorstep.

I also don't see what makes those bands worthy of singling out, although there are a few good ones in there... It seems to me you picked out the bands you liked the same as I did.
