  1. just checking, but quite a common mistake is getting muddled with steinberg's seperate asio configuration tools, when you just need to setup the soundcard within cubase by going to device settings, vst multitrack to select your asio driver (should be installed), check the vst inputs and outputs (should all be there). When you're working on a project (or template), setup the inputs/outputs by going to "vst connections" and adding input/output busses as neccesary. (then just assign the inputs to tracks and whatnot).
  2. http://www.guitarshredshow.com/ try out the jam one
  3. Duracell, Lightning Bolt, Converge and SOIA and fantomas and mastodon. boy they were good.
  4. I think an ability to think objectively and creatively about the sound you're creating is essential. People with this ability will generally realise that proficiency at a given medium/instrument is neccessary to be able to manipulate the sound. The converse flaw with trained musicians is that they can believe a given level of proficiency translates into a sovereignty over the instrument where it's soley them creating this music. This leads to a blindness of how the instrument is affecting their musical choices, the musician seeing the instrument/medium as merely a vehicle for their perfect ideal, unaware of (and thus, exacerbating) an inherent conflict (hence: horrible 80s wank). True creativity is a dialogue between the artist and the tool.
  5. either 1st or 3rd, I think.
  6. Do you know craig hand? - sure he's doing that course. If so, check with him, he'll be a decent source of advice.

  11. mine too. That made me go program assembly code.
  12. You're a cock, James! I was feeling very uppity, but those lyrics touched me in uncomfortable places. Verrrr nice, though.
  13. I wouldn't say that's pay to play, that's paying 200 for a video, with the chance of compensating yourself. Working out video cameras, (decent)staff costs, location wouldn't be too far off that.

    Mp3 4 U!

It's a damn good track (liked the reverb tails leading into cymbals) but it all seems a bit too self-contained like the constraints of having everything hardware and very seperate sounds ala Bukem. Some more spontaneous dirty dynamics would suit me fine. Feel free to disregard (probably wise) coming from a chap whos electronic music represents a constant battle against whopping bitcrusher and quadrafuzz over everything (I try to keep it to what's neccessary, but 20 instances of quadrafuzz just ARE damn neccessary.
  15. 3 4th year uni exams. fucking ringtones all the way through. Complete and utter BASTARDS
  16. Since you mention space harrier' date=' go HERE get "Space Harrier + Turrican @barden's boudoir (wmv)" and play from 3:20, as he fluffs it up the first time.

  19. Ummm Shave your balls with a clipper (previously stolen by graham f**king p**l to shave his public hair on account of him having crabs) Cut the "seam" skin on your balls. panic, run to the bedroom, back to the toilet, pass out from looking at the blood. Come to after a nice sleep to find the clipper still buzzing away near your eye. Anyone met my flatmate nelson?
  20. I stand by that beautiful moment. In key and in time.
