  1. break that bad boy out! The only thing stopping me playing it through again is the thought of scraping all the crusty man-goo off the TV.
  2. The production of the sounds is exemplary, the pitched material sounds pretty staid - getting one bar to sound perfect is important, but it doesn't develop past a template into a tune for me. There are some mighty fine remixes up on that pigeon project page.
  3. 2 seconds at 1:00 the rest absolutely bored the tits off me.
  4. How about Satyagraha et all? Surely it would depend on the person getting fuck kicked out of them judging the something they do to be of more worth to them than the risk of getting beaten up for it.

last chalets on sale. 3 day rave, and these guys know how to do it.
  10. really hoped the tune wouldn't be gash. but it is.
  11. i've some boundary mics by audiotechnica and oem that are pretty handy. Fiddling about with cheapo piezo contact mics and capsules is great. put some inside a steinway model D whilst fiddling around with prepared piano. you can get amazing sounds out of those piano things. I've a (elvis mic ripoff) by eagle (G148, it says) that's pretty beasty for any rough midrangey sounds when I can't be bothered setting things up properly. Thoroughly in favour of the C414s mentioned earlier, though I'd have to be seeing some returns before investing in them. Still loving my gt-66 - best valve mic I've used for under a grand (esp for the 200odd i paid:love:)
  12. If anyone knows of a highly capable drummer with some spare time about glasgow, please pm. Must be able to play them as a creative, dynamic instrument rather than a fancy metronome.
  13. their cover of gay unicorn's smashing.
  14. hate the anime, but the naruto beatemup's fucking ace.
  15. i forget. probably something like it'd been done before, but not in a cute d&b stylee. coupled with the lack of pointless argument this weekend.
  16. I'm sure I remember a discussion about Duracell a few months back... tool.

still some being confirmed sporadicaal. those acts on two stages over a weekend not enough?! fucksake! squarepusher, altern8!(!!!), modeselektor, venetian snares, the flashbulb, bogdan, uZiq, DMX krew, remarc, knifehandchop, richard devine, plaid, cassetteboy, dopplereffekt, phil hartnoll, kid606, scotch egg, aba shanti, shitmat, jackson&hiscomputerband, richard james on decks etcetc. And chalets. Am I seriously the only one that finds this edifying? I mean, c'monnnnnnnnnnnn
  22. i would go if these guys were playing. but they're not, so go to bangface which will be roughly a billion times more fun.
  23. fair enough! for just recording, i've been most impressed with cool edit (now sony audition or summat) cubase is pretty standard for recording/editing audio/midi - less detailed audio editing facilities (though you could use another editor like soundforge), but loads more scope for messing around with virtual synths and other things. 90% of most of them will duplicate 90% of each other's functionality. probably. Microphone(s) and soundcard're the next order - just have a look at sound on sound's back articles and google around. USB2/firewire, loads of companies make basically the same cards- guitar/mic/whatever/phantom power (for some condenser mics) combo inputs are very handy. If you're only going to be recording rather than performing, those alesis combo mixer/soundcards look tasty as fuck. Wait, sorry, I did that wrong. If you're using a 4-track, you obviously won't understand this technology and won't use it properly, probably on account of your political opinions and taste in music. Give up, go home and don't attempt to better yourself ever again.
  24. at least search the old posts?
