  1. Spoonie should know the joys of the warwick and gallien-kruger combo. I tried for 12 months to get a bad sound out of that. I recorded a track with my yamaha going into a fully distorted JCM 900, and the FX send going into an 8*12 ashdown setup, which I loved.
  2. agree with the last post there graeme, I've still done it many times to eke out the remaining life in some strings before a gig when payday's a long way away!
  3. Not at all. Try it if you've got some old sweaty strings. My flatmate last year does it, and he's a darn good bass player. Just takes all the residue off them.
  4. if we're all being anal, if you fancy a new set of bass strings, just boil the old ones in the kettle, seriously.
  5. shure's are decent. I borrowed a rode NTK for some vocals and it's amazing. Rode's are generally brilliant, imho.

  7. children of bodom are fantastically wanky "glory metal".
  8. i just downloaded it. I did like it, though i thought the drums could be a bit more crazy or varied. It's very ambient! make it dirtier! Hoooooooooooooover!!! and again: adlib.org.uk/413X
  9. Shai Hulud, Children of Bodom, Cornelius and Jonny Truant. Anyone else heard the Darkness's cover of street spirit? Genius!
  10. I had a similar problem with my guitar, and had to rewire it because the live wire exposed and soldered really badly. I'd check the wiring. Decoupling capacitors are only typically used in DC circuits I think. Z=1/jwC and all that malarkey.
  11. brian - architecture craig - cleaning mart - maths nick - computing oooo, what do I win?
