  1. Battles were fantastic when I saw them in a few years back. Probably one of my favourite gigs. Maybe they just had an off night that time?
  2. It still had about half an hour to go though. Most serious bidders won't put in a bid till the last minute. It went for 277 in the end which is a pretty good price. As for the listing, it wasn't that bad. It maybe didn't need the bit about Murray from the Xcerts using one, but it was just a telecaster which is a fairly straight forward guitar that doesn't require too much of a description.
  3. I'm a big fan of this album. My favourite RHP album seems to alternate between Old Ramon and the first self titled album with the rollercoaster on it. I think Rollercoaster is the better of the two but I have a soft spot for Old Ramon as its the album that got me into the band and has some awesome songs on it. I wish I could pick up some RHP vinyl without having to pay a small fortune on ebay. I have the reissue of Songs For a Blue Guitar but would love to own Rollercoaster and some of the other early releases on vinyl. I'm hoping that 4AD might reissue them one day.
  4. Aereogramme. Some sessions they did for him are on this site under the downloads bit - The Saviours Of The Underground
  5. I use to have this head. Had a nice deep thumpy sound to it. The overdrive channel is pretty ropey though. I hoped it would have added a bit of grit to my tone but instead it was thin and fuzzy. I didn't own it for very long and didn't use it that much but had no problems with it when I did use it. I only sold it as I needed the cash and the only reason I didn't use it very often was because it didn't fit in my flightcase.
  6. You should try the Boss Blues Driver as I'd guess that Behringer pedal is a copy of one. Most of the Behringer pedals seem to be plastic toy copies of pedals that already exist. They have their own version of every Boss Pedal that has already existed. Even the discontinued ones. Get your own ideas, Behringer!
  7. Part of their Glastonbury set is up on the BBC website. Definitely worth having a look at. BBC - Glastonbury Festival - The National
  8. Got one of these today Absolutely love it! Its a dream to play and sounds lovely.
  9. YouTube - The Cure - Plainsong
  10. Brighten the Corners by Pavement.
  11. Thats just the distortions! Just had a count and I have 67 pedals all together. I just really like effects pedals. Distortions in particular. Got a bad habit of going on ebay, bidding on a pedal, winning it, I receive it in the post, play about with it for 10 minutes then put it on my pedal shelf and won't touch it again for ages. I'm not going to stop doing this though.
  12. There was a Yamaha Pacifica in the window of the Clan Charity shop on Rosemount Place a couple of days ago for 90. Didn't get a close up look at it so it might need a set up or have some problems. Maybe if you went in with someone that was clued up about guitars they could tell you if it was in a playable condition?
  13. Where did you get it from? Thats a great price. I really like the old Marshall distortion pedals. Got an original Guv'nor which sounds miles better than the newer one Marshall currently make. Nice ballsy sound to it. I'm after a Drivemaster and would love a Shredmaster if I could find one for a good price. Although I really don't need any more distortion pedals. Last count I had around 40 of them...
  14. Anything by the Smiths. Andy Rourke's basslines were so melodic and full of melody without sounding like he was overplaying.
  15. 17. A better selection of bottled and draft beers would be good. Does the Basement still do food? I remember about five or six years ago the food was awesome but last time I ate there I was pretty underwhelmed by my meal. That was a while a go though so not sure what its like now. At weekends I always find the music too loud. Having the music at a similar level that the Moorings has would be good. Loud enough to be heard yet quiet enough that you can still hold a conversation.
  18. Whats the tuning for that?

    Pet Hates!

Idiots who place bids on items on ebay ages before the auction ends.
  20. Anyone here have one? If so get in touch. Cheers!
  21. Around seven years ago when I still lived with my parents, I was getting a lift back from a friend late at night from being in town. My parents live in the middle of no where and the roads out there are single track. So we were driving along this very straight single track bit of road not far from my parents house when suddenly up ahead a man appeared out of no where with his back to us standing at the side of the road. He didn't turn round or step of the road, just stood there incredibly still as we drove past. There was something really erie about this guy. His appearance was very old fashioned and it was strange how he didn't step of the road or even make the slightest movement. After my friend dropped me of he later sent me a message telling me that there was no sign of this guy on the way back. I've also had a few weird experiences when I have been in the abandoned Broadford Works factory on Maberly Street. One time when I was in there me and a friend climbed some steps to get to a room. We had a look about and then left the room and climbed back down the steps. As we got to the bottom of the steps the door to the room slammed shut. The night was incredibly still. No wind at all, so I cant think what would of caused that door to slam. We promptly left. Another time we were in there we heard a faint noise coming from an area we were near. The noise only seemed to happen every so often and I can't describe it at all. As we approached the noise seemed to get louder and more consistent and as we shone lights the direction of the sound it got even louder and more constant. Again we left pretty quickly! That place is pretty scary. Pretty much every time I have been in there something has happened that I can't explain.

    Pet Hates!

Yes! Although I think what bugs me more are the people that go on about or like Don't Stop Believin' in an ironic way rather than the band themselves. I don't give a fuck if it was played at the end of The Sopranos or if they make reference to it on Family Guy. Stop going on about it and stop creating facebook pages to try and get Don't Stop Believin' to number 1.
  23. Fantastic album that gets better with every listen. My copy arrived on Wednesday and I've not stopped listening to it since. Craig B's vocals sound wonderful. I'm glad the throat problems of the past didn't have a long term effect on him.
  24. One of my most played guitars is one of these - Its a Schecter PT and it only cost me 150 (although I think it was reduced by quite a bit) yet it plays like a guitar worth much more than that. Nice meaty sound to it and its got a coil tap for if I fancy some single coil twang.
  25. Picked these up over the past couple of weeks - The Fauns - self titled Karate - self titled De Rosa - Mend Neu! - Neu! 75 The Unwinding Hours - self titled (pre ordered. Can't wait for this) Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Los Campesinos - Romance is Boring Elliot - False Cathedrals Japandroids - Post Nothing Arab Strap - The Week Never Starts Round Here The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Self titled That Karate album arrived in the post today and I'm really enjoying it. Has a bit of a Fugazi feel.
