Any good amp techs up here? Got a head that needs fixed and was hoping there might be someone up here that could look at it.

Ullapool is lovely. Went camping there a couple of months ago and had a great time. Beautiful scenery, good pubs and a really good Indian restaurant as well. The road from ullapool to Achiltibuie is a good drive. Really dramatic mountain scenery and one of my favourite parts of the country. On that road there is a mountain called Stac Pollaidh which is fairly easy to climb and the views from the top were breathtaking. Great views of the surrounding mountains and out to sea towards Lewis. Lewis is worth a visit as well. Beautiful beaches, especially in Harris and one about 10 miles north of Stornoway called Tolsta, which on a good day has good views of the mainland. Some pubs in Stornoway are open on a sunday but they close fairly early and as Ross said pretty much everywhere is shut. The petrol station is open and thats about it.

I'm watching an ampeg stv400t on ebay. Still solid state, but has the graphic eq so I can tweak the tone a little more. Ideally I'd like an SVT 2 but it would take me years to save up for one.

Hi, I'm selling my Ampeg B5R head. Good clean sound. Nice and deep. It also has a second channel for distortion/overdrive, which is not the best but useable. Plus you can combine channels so you get clean and drive at the same time if you wanted. Looking for about 350, but open to offers.

I love the cure but there is a track on their last album called 'freakshow' which is one of the worst songs I have ever heard. Think they even released it as a single.

I'm not overly enamored by it either. ace opening riff and theres some other cool bits but on the whole I found it a bit dull. I really like Isis, but mainly for stuff like Oceanic and the SGNL 05 ep.

not all cars do it though so i'm guessing it is down to the car rather than the road.

i hate those car headlights that seem to flicker between different colour/brightness for no good reason. fucking annoying as well as distracting.

cheers for that huw! i'd love a bass head that can give me a nice gritty/driven sound. bought an ampeg B5R on ebay a few months back that has a clean channel and an overdrive channel. clean channel sounds good but the overdrive channel just sounds wank. was hoping it would give me a slight bit of grit but all it does is horrible fuzz with no low end. guess i'll just have to start saving for a valve ampeg to get the tone i want.

anyone know if the ampeg SVT450 is any good? according to ampeg it sounds like a valve amp even though its solid-state, but i've never seen one to try. would love an all valve bass head like an SVT2 or mesa 400+ but its something i cant see myself being able to afford anytime soon.

was listening to the turning 13 album not long ago and i'd forgotten how good it was. some cracking songs on there! as said earlier fiction/action had some great songs. missing control, ballad of william blake, etc. also really liked a dedalus song which i think was called lough shore.

the boss oc3 works well with bass. it has some cool features on it and the octave tracks well.
