  1. i know its not a fender but i got one of these not long ago for 150 from sound control and i love it. lovely to play and sounds great. feels like it could of been a guitar that cost 500+.
  2. ah right ok. he'd said it was a maximum load in the questions bit at the bottom so thats where i was getting that from, but im guessing he got it mixed up. cheers for the help.
  3. yeah there is 2 outputs on it.
  4. i dont think the cab has a selector switch but i'll have a look. this is my cab here Ashdown Engineering | Bass Amplification im not too sure what the impendances of the speaker are. had a look at the specs of it on the website but didnt see anything. so i shouldnt do it then? wouldn't want to get the amp then to damage it. this is the amp im looking at by the way Ampeg bass combo SVT-100T 100W 2x8" + tweeter on eBay, also Bass, Amplifiers, Pro Audio Equipment, Musical Instruments (end time 23-Apr-08 21:13:19 BST)
  5. im looking at an ampeg bass combo on amp on ebay which has an extra output on the back for another speaker cab. the back pannel on the amp says the max load is 4 ohms. the speaker cab i have just now (ashdown 4x10) is rated at 8 ohms. does that mean its not possible to use the cab with the combo? if its not possible would it just not be able to power the cab or would it damage it?
  6. johnny foreigner are ace. glad i went along for them alone. forward russia were ok and i liked some bits of their set but i think its the drummer that puts me off a little. she seemes to be good but she doesnt hit the kit very hard so the drums got a bit lost in the mix at points i found.
  7. i really like the vox cooltron big ben valve overdrive pedal. sounds great on its own or using it to boost the overdrive channel on my valve amp. was pretty cheap too. use to be over 100 but i got mine for only 39 from sound control.
  8. got brian (lame guitarist) to mod my blues driver to give it more depth and it sounds amazing now. i use it with bass and it sounds so good. i use it to just add a bit more gain to my clean sound but it also sounds good with the gain turned up. also got him to make my boss bass overdrive less fizzy and it now sounds so much better than it did before.
  9. go into mccormacks music in glasgow (im just guessing you maybe live there going by your location). i was in there yesterday and they have a whole bunch of cheap guitars in a clearance thing they are doing which are not working, need work or damaged. they also have bodies and necks and stuff. might be worth a look. all seemed quite cheap.
  10. check out this guy who me and one of my friends saw when we took a road trip to ullapool. think he was a german tourist and he had the most impressive moustache i've ever seen. its like tusks or something! i normally have a beard. i don't really like being clean shaven. last time i shaved was about seven weeks ago. im lucky i have a girlfriend who likes beards, although apparently my beard is getting a bit too big for her liking so i might have to reduce it to stubble or give it a trim sometime soon.
  11. i have a hiscox hard case. hardly used. 30?
  12. i use cassie and co from inverurie to sort out my tax stuff and have had no problems.
  13. the ps 2(the first boss pitch shifter) is also really good. lovely delay and really cool pitch shifting. one of my favourite effect pedals. you should try ebay. i got my ps 2 there and have also seen ps 3's and ps 5's are there all the time.
  14. nah, we played our first gig in april 2007. three of us use to be in bench but we don't class ourselves as the same band at all. dont play any bench songs and we take this band more seriously than bench. regular practises, have bought good equipment, drummer more suited to what we do etc.
  15. cheers for that! will give the setting my amp and pedals at 12 o'clock a try and see what happens.
  16. i use alot of distortion with my bass and im worried i might blow a speaker on my amp. is there anything i can do (apart from use less distortion) to help prevent that happening or am i not that likely to blow a speaker? does using compression help? i normally have the volume on my amp at 12 o'clock and the input at 9 o'clock, the cab i use is an ashdown 4x10 and i have an ashdown head. also, when im using alot of distortion the little arrow dial thing on my ashdown head is always in the red bit, is bad for my amp or is it just telling me my signal is distorted? its not so bad when i have the input level low but if i turn it any lower i don't really like the sound i get.
  17. what gauge of strings are you using at the moment huw? for a new katerwaul song i tuned my bass down to (from lowest string) BEAD, so its like the lowest 4 strings of a 5 string bass in standard tuning. it seemed to cope fine with this. i use gauge 50 strings, so you could just try a heavier gauge, or if you are already using gauge 50's try the next set up. could you also maybe put your bass in to get set up somewhere to cope with the lower tuning?
  18. digitech grunge pedal - 20 danelectro mini eq - 15 danelectro fab distortion - 10 ibanez pt9 phaser - 50 marshall avt 100 amp - 200 feel free to make me offers as i need the cash.
  19. loving the cast of the capital song the witching hour! it sounds lovely. nice death cab for cutie/stapleton vibe to it. don't think i can make the gig but hopefully see you live soon. do you have a cd out or a demo or something with that song on it?
  20. its not quite what i expected but i do like it. its pretty low gain. i use it for a step up from a clean sound to a more driven sound. you'll hear it in action tonight! got a tc vintage bass distortion on the way from thomann though. cant wait!
  21. what time do you want us to be there? our drummer nick phoned captain toms and they said not to come till 8, is that right?
  22. haha im rubbish at cello! last time i used it live (at a gig with tim) the bridge collapsed mid song and after that its stayed in its case for most of the past two years. i'd only use it for recording so it can be drenched in reverb to cover up my bad bowing technique.
  23. nah, its a reasonable enough question to ask on a forum who's users have used that website and would of had experience of their customer service. i didnt feel my question was important enough to mail them, it was more of a querry. its not like im asking how much thomann charge for a telecaster or do they sell power adaptors or whatever.
  24. i bought something of thomann last night but not received a confirmation email. is this normal?
