  1. R&B have some rather nice looking Precision and Jazz bass copies just now. I can't remember the make but they look like good copies and the feel of them was quite nice. They were around 170 or so I think.
  2. But aren't the clocks changed on the Sunday morning? So if Obedience School is Sunday night to early Monday morning then the clocks been changed wouldn't effect it.
  3. Both the Sgur Ros albums and single I own. I've not heard anything like them before.
  4. You're one of my favourite local bands at the moment. Oh and where did you get that synth with the voice thing? And how much was it?
  5. I'm thinking of maybe learning how to play the cello and was wondering how much a full size one with a bow is? And where about could I get one?
  6. I just tried using my DS-1 with an adaptor but it seemed to cause alot of buzzing but it was okay with my other non-Boss pedals. I'll try my other adaptor and see what its like.
  7. I have some Boss Pedals (a DS-1 distortion and a OC-2 octave) and in the booklets that came with them it says I have to use a Boss adaptor with them or it may cause risk of fire etc. Is this true or are Boss just trying to make more money out of me?

    and so....

Thats just silly isn't it. And $2400??? All you need is a Squire and a chainsaw.
  9. When I did the 20th century part of the Higher Music course everyone always hated atonal apart from me. There's just something about it I really like. I admit things like 4 minutes 33 seconds are a bit pretentious, but I quite like the whole tennis balls and pencils in the piano thing.
  10. Thank you. I've taken note of those composers and try and have a look for some of their work. I think I heard some John Cage pieces in Higher Music and have heard about the 4 minute 33 second piece. But I will give them a listen.
  11. I'm wanting to get some recordings of 20th century atonal classical music. Especially piano works, and some violin and piano would be cool too. But does anyone know of any composers that wrote that sort of pieces? Or recommend any pieces in that style? I remember hearing them in Higher/Advanced higher but never got round to asking my teacher who they were by.
  12. Try a set of the DR Hybirds. I like them. They lasted quite long as well.
  13. NO!!! THEY'RE NOT! THEY ARE AWFUL STRINGS!!! Sorry! I just hate Ernie Bollocks strings. For me they start breaking after about a week. Maybe the bass strings are better though. Also does anyone else think that the list of guitarists on the back of the packet don't actually use Ernie Balls. Like it doesn't say they use Ernie Balls, it just lists a whole pile of names. And I like Rotosound bass strings.

    Ebow

I tried one today in R&B. I liked it, but not the price (109).
  15. A death metal brass band would make my day.

    Ebow

If you go to http://www.ebow.com you can hear sound samples of what they can do. Plus theres info on them and things and lists of who has used them and recordings that ebows have been used in.

    Ebow

Has anyone used an Ebow before? I was listening to some sound samples of one on the Ebow website and the songs you can get seem pretty cool. But I heard they are quite hard to use.
  18. For bass its purple Dunlop 2.0mm picks. Really heavy and they don't bend. And guitar ones are smallish Gibson heavy ones.
  19. The new Muse album which is out in September sometime.
  20. So would I be able to use distortion and no compressor without blowing the amps speaker? The only reason I mentioned the compression was I heard using it with distortion on bass prevents you from blowing the speaker, but I could be wrong. Can you still find these quite easily? As didn't Marshall stop making them? I'll keep a look out for one though.
  21. I'm wanting a distorted sound for my bass. I'm looking for a dedicated bass distortion unit. Something I can use without worrying bout blowing the amp's speaker. Whats the zoom 506 like? Or would I get away with using my 505 with some of the built in compression. Also does anyone know what the boss bass overdrive/distortion pedal is like? Would I have to use it with a compressor?
  22. But what if the part of the song where you break the string has just has guitar playing on its own? Its going to sound and look pretty stupid to just stop and then get a friend to pass another guitar. At least with a guitar with a normal vibrato/hard tail you could keep going until the end of the song/an available moment to change guitar. Plus I don't have any friends, let alone any with guitar knowledge who would play roadie for me.
  23. Yeah, but if you're playing live and you break a string, all the strings go out of tune, where's if you break a string on a guitar with a non floyd rose/floating vibrato it might be possible to keep playing till the end of the song. But as for the straps, a wider strap might be able to distribute the weight of a heavy guitar a bit better.
