  1. Yeah, I thought they looked pretty good. Those diagrams mean nothing to me though! But I like the sound of that first pedal.
  2. There's some more here as well at http://krustykorp.tripod.com/effects.htm .
  3. I remember someone mentioned diagrams for the circuitry of effects pedals, well I found one for an old discontinued Boss pedal that fades in the notes you play. The address is http://krustykorp.tripod.com/bosssg1.htm. I'm not sure if its of any use or not but its maybe worth a look.
  4. I'm actually using a DS-1 with my bass at the moment, but I'm scared incase I blow a speaker. So I thought I'd maybe see about getting a dedicated bass distortion. But I'd also like to know about compression and bass distortion, like would using a compressor with distortion avoid blowing a speaker? And what pedals did you try Marty?
  5. Has anyone tried one of those Boss bass distortion pedals before? I think its an OBD-3 or something. I'm thinking of getting one and was just wondering if they are any good.
  6. Yeah, I suppose been able to tune silently is a good thing. But it doesn't take me long to tune my bass as its never really badly out of tune, so a quick play of each string at a low volume is enough for me to tell if its in tune or not, and as soon as I play the string if its out I will get it to its correct pitch. I suppose it helps that I have kinda good pitch.
  7. I don't like tuners. I say learn to tune by ear and use the money you would of spent on the tuner on another effect or something.
  8. How much would you be selling it for? If Tav's not interested that is.
  9. Cool, where did you get it?
  10. Wow! Tony Levin is one of my favourite bassists and its because of him I've become interested in the Stick. I'd like to have a shot of one just to see what its like.
  11. Yeah, they don't look easy to play. Have a look at a video at http://www.stick.com/method/greg_howard2.wmv which has someone demonstrating one. I'd like a shot of one just to see what its like.
  12. Well I'm able to find the notes on it okay, but I'm finding getting a good sound with the bow hard, especially on the D string. The 2 lowest strings are not so bad, but sometimes when I play the D I get more of a horrible screeching type sound. I'll just have to keep practising!
  13. Just wondering if anyone here has ever played one? For those that don't know what I am talking about, its one of these things -
  14. Thank you. Well I managed to change the string I broke and it seems to be staying in tune. Now all I have to do is learn to play the thing!
  15. Whats Bez got to do with the Stone Roses? ?(
  16. I bought one today and broke a string while tuning it. Also how are you meant to tune them, like are you mean to tighten the tuning pegs so much and them do the rest with the round bits at the bridge? Thanks!
  17. I'd learn to play the cello. I love the sound of them.

No, I never realised there was a book out, I must track it down! All I seem to be able to find King Crimson wise(in shops, I've not really looked online) is CD's. Who did you meet at the launch?

Yes, its great! I love the way it goes from the sort of gentle sounding 1st section to the evil sounding micro tone guitar riff.

    Evil

I love evil and dark sounding things from listening to too much King Crimson. I have no idea about names of things but here's some of my favourite weird/evil/dark sounding things ---------- ---------- ---------- ---6------ ---5------ ---3------ I like the sound of this played as a chord or as individual notes. ---------- ---------- ---------- ---5----- ---4----- ---3----- Same as above, I like it played as a chord or individually. ---------- ---3---1- ---3---1- ----------- ----------- ---0---0-- The above chords are used in the King Crimson song Red ---------- ----6----- ----6----- ----5---- --------- --------- I think thats an Augmented Chord -------------------------------------9--11------------------------ -----------------------------8--10-------------------------------- ----------------------6--8----------------------------------------- ----------------5--7----------------------------------------------- ---------4--6------------------------------------------------------ --3--5-------------------------------------------------------------- Some sort of scale, not sure what, sounds like something Robert Fripp might play, same with.. ---------------------------------------1--3---------------------- --------------------------------2--4----------------------------- -------------------------4--6-------------------------------------- ------------------5--7--------------------------------------------- -----------6--8---------------------------------------------------- ----7--9------------------------------------------------------------ Which is the same as the other scale but going the other way.
  22. I'd sooner use that wire you get to cut cheese with as guitar strings than a set of Ernie Bollocks. Every time I have used a set I break one after a week.
