The Car Thread, Yay!! (No bus users allowed)

A thread for car related stuff, such as estate and van porn.

I'll start this off with my beloved Capri 1.6 Laser. One of the most awesome cars i've ever owned and i should never have sold it. I'm definitely going to buy another one in due course. This, Mr Chris is proof that great cars don't have to be expensive; it only cost me £750 :woohoo:

Capri's are genuinely awesome cars. People used to wave at me and take pictures when i was stopped at traffic lights. It was a little bit tail happy, mind and i spun it a few times but luckily it was always on roundabouts and i managed to not hit anything.

EDIT: Oh god, it's a spinning capri....

It needed a little bit of TLC when i first got it but the parts only cost £50 and then it needed no more. The engineering is so simple and the engine bay so massive that there wasn't anything you couldn't do. Insurance was cheap, too due to it's low value and wee engine.

There are heaps of cheap cars you can get that are great:

Toyota MR2 mk1 (the mk2 ones are cheap, too but the turbos cost a bit more)

Landrover Series 2, 2a and 3

Renault Clio Williams

MG Midget / MGB V8

Even some yank tanks can be cheap. This one isn't so cheap but you know what im getting at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1978-PONTIAC-TRANS-AM-6-6-V8-AUTO-T-TOP-CLASSIC-STYLE-/330842719522?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4d07c34522

Yay car thread!

I'm just about to leave work so I'm not going to stay and write up big descriptions and specs (yet!) of my previous car nor my current one. I'll post a couple of pictures of them though :D

Previous (first) car was a Volkswagen Golf mk5 1.4 FSI with a few visual changes:

At its best:-

Almost the same but with different wheels (as I sold it):-

Sold it and bought my current car - 1994 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. It has quite a few bits done so far but doesn't look OTT (got new bits waiting to go on though so it'll be different come April).

At present:

Got one of these carbon fibre rear diffusers ready to go on (to a new rear bumper with no horrific fog light):

These sideskirts are also waiting to go on:

And this new carbon fibre front lip waiting to go on:

I'm currently rocking a terribly responsible Ford Focus, but its the TDCi, 1.8 diesel; in James Bond baddie black. It has a bit of guts on the dualers and motorway and achieves a pretty consistent 55 MPG, so really cannae complain. The electrics of the car are pretty senile, which is pretty common in the model, but that's my only real complaint.

Next I want to get something totally stupid, like a Golf R32, or a Focus ST. The Leon Cupra's are meant to be fun as well, for a bit less dosh. After that I'll probably just settle into a Vauxhall Insignia.

I love cars, still need to get my licence tho haha

I'm eyeing up a project at the moment

found very cheap G-reg mk3 fiesta needing little work done to the back arches. But for a car over 20 years old its only done 43k and is fresh. It's got an old fashioned manual choke and a 4 speed box.

once insurance goes down i'll see about upgrading the engine.

Currently nipping around in a 2005 (seventh generation) Honda Civic 1.6i VTEC Sport. It's my second Civic, had a 1998 (sixth generation) hatch before that. Dunno what to do next, because I think Honda have ruined the Civic now. It's not a problem right now, but cars don't last forever. Also finding myself more and more looking for a sixth gear.

Before that I had two Mk. 2 Fiestas. The first one was a 957cc van which was converted into a car (windows and back seat put in). Got a Ghia centre console for it and thought it was awesome :) It met a violent end wedged between a lorry and some railings on the A947. The car didn't have an undamaged body panel but thankfully my sister (who had kinda inherited it) was unharmed. The second one was a 1.1L. It wasn't as good as the ex-van :(

Nonsense. There's nowhere near enough room in the boot of a Ka for an Eastern European student with her wrists and ankles taped together.

EDIT - I originally typed "his" instead of "her". Freudian slip much?

Have you considered putting down the back seats and using some potato sacks to hide the body from sight?

My first car was a 1984 Ford Fiesta Mark 2. 1.1. Maroon. Beige interior. Cost me £300. Manual choke, 4 gears. Fucking rusty piece of shit, but I loved it. Comfiest seats ever. Amazingly I even had some sex in it. I also drove it into a wall once. Looked like this, but with a dent, and jizzier seats.

Prop her/him up in the front seat held in place with a seat belt whilst they snooze in a GHB induced kip on the way to your venue of choice then chop said "victim" into bits with a saw and pop them in the boot on your way to your preferred disposal site. Job's a good 'un.

remove the "great" and your nearly there! Hows about a Capri engined Series 3..... mines been in the shed for going on 5years now....

Have you got a capri or a series 3? My old man used to have a series 3 and i've got lots of great memories of it. My brother eventually inherited it as his first car and wrote off a mini and a fiesta with it (in two separate occasions, landy unharmed) before destroying the gearbox with his amateurish gear changes.

How on earth do you post pictures from you hard drive on this forum???

EDIT: I've worked it out....

EDIT EDIT: No i haven't....
