Soda Jerk
We were very heavily (pun intended) linked with him in the January of our relegation season. Bloody glad we steered clear. He would have just weighed you down.

Soda Jerk
EDIT= Mike Dean's gotta be pretty bummed though...based on recent precedent it was definitely a red (both feet off the ground and all that).I agree. It seems to be that referees are missing the clearer ones at the moment too. The one by Faye on Saturday was much worse, as was that David Luiz one the other week, which only got a yellow. All of which were probably worse than Kompany's.I still consider Kompany's to be 'excessive force' and that's what referees are instructed to take a zero tolerance policy on, and he did. Soda Jerk
Agreed, would have been a huge waist of money.Do you think you would have still gotten promoted that year with him in the team? Fat chance.

Scorge
Five year deal on £40k a week - he'll be set for the foreseeable (unless he's pissed it away gambling and drinking and shagging - although there are worse ways to spend your money, I guess). Difficult to see a) who'd take a punt on him with his documented attitude problem and b) where he'd want to go to earn peanuts in comparison to what he's used to.Can see him retiring tbh.Echoes of Winston Bogarde there!Anyone see Craig Burley's latest diatribe about culling smaller SFL sides? What an odious cunt....

The Milner
The Blues star, once tipped to be an England captain and hailed as ‘the new Colin Bell’, told MEN Sport he has been undergoing treatment for several years at the Priory Clinic, which specialises in dealing with mental illness, alcoholism and gambling addiction. And in a heartfelt plea, 24-year-old Johnson, whose football career appears to be over, has asked that he be ‘left alone to live the rest of my life’.It has emerged that City had decided in December to quietly pay up Johnson’s contract, which was due to expire at the end of June, and release him.Asked whether he had a message to Blues fans, who are disappointed that he did not fulfil his potential, Urmston-born Johnson, a product of the City academy, said: “I am more disappointed than anyone but that’s the way it goes.”He initially declined to say any more but rang us back, revealing: “I have been attending the Priory Clinic for a number of years now with regard to my mental health and would be grateful if I could now be left alone to live the rest of my life.”The Priory has treated several high-profile stars, including Stan Collymore, Paul Gascoigne and Ricky Hatton.City legend Colin Bell said last night: “It’s a terrible shame. It’s hard to accept when your career ends early and for his to end at his age will be reallydifficult to take.” Seems like this guy has some serious issues in life, a real shame.

Gypsum_Fantastic
Sounds like he thought of a good excuse to try and get the media to leave him alone. So if he has been going to the priory for a number of years he thought ahead of his fall from football so he would have an excuse? Murrr
There have been rumours of Johnson's mental health issues for years, so I 100% believe his story. Regardless of how much money he has earned, the stupid decisions he has made and the opportunities he has wasted, it is always sad to see somebody succumb to mental health problems. He has my sympathy at least.
