ashhh
nothing? seriously, i'd be writing letters to every apple department, googling for head office details, emailing every apple email address i could find, making a complete nuisance of myself. i've never worked for or known a company that hasn't basically had a "shout loud enough and you get what you want" policy. i worked for one company that had 5 tiers of customer service, and if you got to tier 5 after refusing to accept the other 4's explanations they would give you 200. ashhh
send a letter then. they take it more seriously than a phonecall. google for a complaints department address, jabber on about how disappointed you are in their customer service, send it recorded delivery, hope for the best. ashhh
best get a move on then! just say that you know the warranty is out on the 27th but you have been trying to get this resolved for months. i'm not for kicking off if it's not necessary, really, but ipods aren't cheap and really you'd expect it to last longer than a few months.

Guest idol_wild
How old is it, and what model? The Classics seem to be notorious for breaking it seems. I've only had mine 6 months, but I bet it doesn't see Christmas.iPod Touch 32GB. That's all I know about it. I bought it in November. Then had it replaced by the end of November because it was duff. 225 and not even a year of service from it.Sadly, iPods are pretty much the best portable MP3 player on the market. Minus their durability, of course.

Guest idol_wild
Why? (8 characters)I knew someone would. I just basically love almost everything about iPods; the way they look, the interface, the size, the shape, the ease of use. I even love iTunes. They just never last long. Fucking ballsacks.Any other portable MP3 player I have experience of just doesn't compare, in my opinion.

Chris
I had a Sony MP3 player for years, but now I've got an iPod classic the difference is amazing. It's better in pretty much every department, except the terrible earphones but that's easily fixed. For the capacity, ease of use, quality and price I can't fault the thing at all. Just wish it would let me play music while it was charging off a PC it wasn't in sync with.
Soda Jerk
Creative Zen Touch's were equally as good a few years ago. They basically mimicked everything about the iPod, but since Creative actually sepcialise in audio and Apple merely specialise in looking fancy, they didn't sound like absolute garbage, so they had the upperhand on both sound quality and durability. Now - They just don't have a 80/120/160gb unit rivalling the iPod. Not many brands do anymore because Apple had smashed the market to pieces, so they don't have to take into account build quality. Cunts are gonna lap it up regardless. Cunts like me. I've got an iPod. Fuck off iPod.

Fucking ballsacks.Any other portable MP3 player I have experience of just doesn't compare, in my opinion.Personally i've never had any problems with Sony MP3 players but i guess it's different strokes etc.My problems with iPods are:1. I don't care for style based products, yeah they look nice but i'm not bothered about how an MP3 player looks.2. Battery life. iPods are terrible for having decent battery life in the first 6 months then it slowly getting worse and worse from then onwards. My Sony has only really started showing signs of needing a new battery in the past 6 months (it's 5 years old).3. Durability. My ex had 3 iPods in the space of the time we were together and also bricked 2 iphones. I've had 2 MP3 players in 10 years.4. iTunes, i don't see why folks get so hung up on it. All MP3 players should be drag and drop these days in my opinion. I honestly don't think they are genuinely better than the likes of Sony, Archos, Creative etc for usability, music output quality and functionality either. I think people have been conditioned to think they are by advertisements and peer pressure. It's well sold by Apple to be honest, brilliant marketing and shrewd management but the same folks get suckered time and time again despite bad experiences. I have never owned an Apple product, though i have used plenty and i just don't see the attraction for people getting so worked up about a product with very poor reliability. If it was a Sony product (for example) everyone would be slagging them off left right and centre without question.

Battery life is better as well.Itunes is a godsend compared to the sony software. But drag and drop would be an improvement.

Monster Zero
I really hope my 160Gb IPod lives a long and happy life since for some reason they stopped doing that capacity....I've had no major issues with it at all. Only thing I hate about I Tunes is when it takes songs on an album and lists them separately if a collaborator appears with the main artist. I also have some albums that can't be found by searching by Artist, you have to go by Album name.
Lemonade
I had a Sony MP3 player for a while and it was fucking shit. It was one of the sleek black ones that came out a few years ago, the fucking thing used to freeze constantly, and lose connection when I was trying to update it, twice the memory just completely blanked and I had to load all my music on to it again. Fucking hated that thing, I ended up taking it back to Dixons and exchanging it for a 30Gb iPod classic, which I had for three years and apart from the occasional freeze, I never had any bother with it at all. The battery life shortened signficantly by the end, but it still worked fine. I'm sure I would still be using it now if it hadn't been stolen. I immediately went out and bought another one, had that since December and had no problems with it whatsoever. iTunes is the bomb as well, I have it as my default audio player on both my computers. I would suck off an iPod if I could. In summary:>

Le Stu
I've an original iPod Shuffle, still going strong. I use Sharepod on my PC to transfer the files as I don't need iTunes 'cos I've got AIMP2. I also have a b0rk Apple G4 powerbook but it lasted 6 years after a dog knocked it onto the floor, fucking up the firewire and optical drive. That's better than the batteries are supposed to last so I can't complain. And it's fuck all use for anything these days.Although, I do have a pet hate concerning Apple. They will support the product you buy for about 18 months. I have the setting enabled where I manage the files on my iPod manually so it doesn't automatically sync with my library, as my library has nothing in it. I keep all my mp3's on an external hard drive so I'm not cluttering up my computer. If I keep all my music on my computer, the virus scans take FOREVER!Apart from the dragging and the dropping, I don't use iTunes. It seems to take ages to actually load after pressing the icon, and I don't understand how alot of it works. I don't really play music on my computer except for Spotify or Myspace pages anyway. What Phil and I were talking about was just using windows explorer to drag the album folders from a hard drive to your MP3 player, no proprietary software getting in the way.
