Barbarella - I think I said somewhere else in this thread that so often "sci-fi classics" from the 50s and 60s offer little other than kitsch value. This is a prime example, it is an utter pile of drivel. Other than cutesy costumes and kitsch 60s special effects, the plot was dire, boring and confusing, the acting was beyond wooden and the dialogue so clunky it was almost impossible to follow what was going on. Total and absolute shit. Every copy of this film should be burned. I hate it.

Thumbs DOWN.

Aww c'mon. I think it's ace!

Total Recall

Classic Arnie nonsense - a real guity pleasure. Wooden acting, bobbins plot, hokey effects, but fun!

I was at the UK premiere for this when it first came out and it has dated badly. It's funny the things you notice as you get older - for example when Quaid (Arnie) gets his fake ID's - they're old 70's-style laminates and when he arrives on Mars, the Customs guys validate his passport with an old-timey rubber stamp.

It made me want to gouge Jane Fonda's eyes out and shove them up my ass.

Good film! I remember watching it when it first came out and I didn't like it, probably because I was 10 and I didn't really understand it. Fast forward 20 years and I watched it again and really really enjoyed it, not really classic meathead Arnie but a good slice of sci fi. Better than Barbafuckingrella that's for sure!

There was a rumour of a remake not long ago.

Was so desperate to see this I donned a suit and briefcase to sneak into the Odeon on Justice Mill Lane (don't look for it - it's not there anymore) as it was an 18 and I was 12.

How did you end up at the premiere?

Aye, I read about that. It was supposed to be Siena Miller in the lead role, then Robert Rodgriguez agreed to direct, but he wanted Rose McGowan in the lead role, then they all dropped out. Dunno what's happening with it now.

The Watchmen. I haven't finished the comic book yet. Apparently, I'm not so into comic books these days... my fault not their's. But the first half that I did read in the comic was amazingly true on the screen. It really didn't feel like 3 hrs either. I proper enjoyed this film!

If I could criticise, the soundtrack was overloaded with 60s classics. i get that flashback is a huge part of the movie, but it really killed the 80s feel.

I watched this the other day, (alond with a load others so could be getting confused) but I thought it was full of 80's tuneage? 99Red ballons n all that jazz?

I didn't think it was 3hrs not until you mentioned! Quite good tho

Also watched:

Fired Up - Kids movie thumb side

Spectacular - Teeny girls thumbs side for the girls of 13ish

Princess Protection Program - Thumbs side for girls of 8ish

The Last house on the left - quite good thumbs up

The Unborn - nothing great thumbs down

Baby Onboard - Chickflick...hmmm wouldn't bother

Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! (a.k.a. Strippers Vs Zombies): a b-movie on Zone Horror that looked like it had potential: was in fact utterly crap. Awful puns and acting, every zombie clich in the book, and piss-poor effects... the blood looks like water dyed red! Clearly a platform for a bunch of wannabe porn stars, just hope they failed. Would probably be watchable if you were stoned or drunk... switched off after 1 hour. Hope my Zombie Strippers DVD w/ Jenna Jameson and Robert England isn't as bad as this!!! 2/10

Seed: another Zone Horror B movie, so I was sceptical: turned to be alright. Biggest boost was that it was genuinely atmospheric and eerie. Some good gross-outs, believable violence and disturbing scenes. The main capture was so poorly lit that it was impossible to tell what was going on, and the first 60 mins is mostly backstory. Bit of a shock ending that isn't exactly what you want (or expect) to see. Appears to have been voted down on the big sites because nobody likes Uwe Boll's other films, but I'd give this a decent rating because it's better than most of the shit in the horror / gore / video nasty baskets. 6/10

agreed better than people make out cause of expectation of the director. The opening scenes were real and totally unnecessary. The bit with the women in the chair is horrible!
