The Watch - Bromance sci-fi comedy starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayode off the IT Crowd. It had serious potential to be the worst film ever made but it turned out to be averagely enjoyable. Lots of dick and jizz jokes, some bromantic moments between Ben and Vince and some badass LADZ behavior. Highlights include Richard Ayode's slo mo shoot out and Vince Vaughn asking about how you produce a sperm sample.

Gangster Squad - Starring Stroopy121's favorite actor ever Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn. Recurring Friends character Phoebe's brother also  makes an appearance. The plot centers around a group of cops trying to take down L.A's notorious gangster Mickey Cohen, it features hot 40's chicks, car chases and lashings of ultra violence. It was a pretty decent film although it was pretty fictitious despite claiming to be based on a true story. Sean Penn's face is distracting throughout. What's going on with it? He's starting to look like Seal!

I was semi-interested in seeing this, but I was put off purely because Gangster Squad is just a terrible name for a film. It reminds me of the fictitious show in the Simpsons called Police Cops.

Yeah I too was concerned about how shite the name is. It's definitely worth the watch though!

Texas Chainsaw

I seem unable to stop myself watching these sort of films out of morbid curiosity. This one was billed as a direct sequel to the original, set in the aftermath of the original events. This is true for about 10 minutes then it jumps into the present and a descendant of the Sawyer family inheriting her Gran's house, where something lurks in the basement. Guess what? Don't wet yourself about spoilers, its really not hard to predict. It's not truly awful but not that great either.

A Good Day to Die Hard

John McClane goes to Russia to help out his estranged son who has been thrown in jail. Explosions and violence ensue. You have to watch Die Hard films. Or at least I do. A perfectly serviceable action film that suffers mainly from not being as good as the original or the first 2 sequels. I think I liked it better than 4 though.

7/10

Tiny Furniture

One of those quirky indie comedy films where not much really happens, starring that lass who does that 'Girls' programme that I havent seen yet. It was OK I suppose.

7/10

Django Kill

I bought this years ago and forgot about it, found it when putting 'Django Unchained' in its anal alphabetical position on the shelf. This film is one of many Spaghetti Westerns that had 'Django' inserted in the title to capitalise on the original's success but it doesnt actually have a character of that name in it. A guy is left for dead after a gold robbery but is saved by a couple of Indians and turns up in a town to get revenge on the gang who killed his fellow robbers. Gets mixed up with another gang of homosexual cowboys and a kidnap plot while lots of originally controversial violence looks dated due to ketchup effects. Strange film.

So, Netflix is awesome, right? It's all I do now.

Bones Brigade: An Autobiography

So, I'm all about skateboarding documentaries now. This, obviously, is about the Bones Brigade team which started in the early 80's and how skateboarding evolved so quickly from being a derivative of surfing to it's own entity. It was really interesting to learn how hated Tony Hawk was, purely because he was just so good. He was written off because he was so ahead of his time and widely discredited. The interviews with Rodney Mullen are great. He's an amazing guy and hugely emotional about what he does. I never knew how responsible he was for turning freestyle into street skating. Surprised that Fred Durst is in it. And glad, because he's a really great guy, obviously. Good watch, mostly for Mullen. Top bloke.

There's a really good Danny Way Doc about jumping the great wall of China on netflix - Waiting for Lightning.

I've watched a few decent sports docs on netflix recently - Birth of Big Air (BMX), Knuckle (illegal boxing), Dragonslayer (skateboarding), Pulling John (arm wrestling), Step Into Liquid (surfing) - plus all of the ESPN 30 for 30 series.

Some of these might only be on US netflix.

A Serbian Film.

I had heard bits and pieces about but had no real idea what to expect other than THIS FILM WAS BANNED BECAUSE IT'S SICK AS FUCK!

Porn actor Milo is hired by a mysterious stranger Vukmir to star in a new film project. Milo doesn't know what's going on, he's just told to react to these situations and to be himself. It progresses to show how the film is an extreme "art" project portraying being a victim.

The content is extreme as fuck - including rape and paedophilia BUT in the films defense, it's really not that graphic in it's portrayal. You're under no illusion of what's happening but it's really pretty "tame" in it's sexual portrayals. Plenty of grindhouse-style blood and gore though and it twice caused me to actually shout HOLY FUCK out loud.

If you can "legally" get a hold of it and you're a fan of grindhouse horror I really do recommend watching it - it's not the mindless child-rape fest it's made out to be. I found the plot to be pretty engaging and the characters were interesting as well as having some really good twists in there. Some of the dialogue is pretty terrible, though. Like, really bad. Hard to tell if it's just poor translation, though.

I'm tempted by this. They did sell it in HMV on dvd but with loads of bits cut.

To be fair, I found Human Centipede 2s plot to be pretty good. Just terrible acting and unneeded shite that did it in.

Yeah. A guy with some... problems... watches the first one. becomes obsessed. tries to recreate. add in the molestation, his ma being a cunt, pervy doctor. ta da. 12 folk stapled arse to mouth. makes sense really.

Yeah 2 was a more interesting watch that the first one.

I liked the grittyness of how it was shot in black and white, how the main character barely speaks a word. and the sandpaper wanking scene

Just Friends - Sunday night rom-com with the missus. Occasionally a chick-flick will have a memorable character, some funny lines or a noteable cameo to make it stand out from the dearth of identical estrogen-fests. This is not one of those films. Ryan Reynolds plays a succesful handsome New York executive who finds himself back in the simple small town he grew up in, and bumps into the girl he had a crush on all through high school. So far so every-chick-flick-ever. Fish out of water hi-jinks ensue. The "be yourself" message is clobbered into you like a sledgehammer from the first few scenes. Ryan Reynolds has the screen presence of a Dorito, he tries to do some rubber-faced comedy a la Steve Carell, but comes off like a bad impressionist. Amy Smart is the lead female and boy does she suck. She's hot in a Gremlin-y sort of way, and I've actually enjoyed some of her other (mostly supporting) roles but she is not a leading lady, and there is zero chemistry between the two of them. There are a few chuckles, and Anna Faris and Chris Klein do alright as the baddies of the piece, but mostly this is a turd.

A Fistful Of Dollars - Clint Eastwood spaghetti western directed by Sergio Leone. Clint Eastwood plays a bad ass hitman who rides into a town caught up in a war between two powerful familes, and plays them off against each other. Starts slow but it really is a great film. Some great visuals and camera work for 1964 as well, and Ennio Morricone's soundtrack really makes it. You can totally spot all the scenes that have been referenced in other films as well, Kill Bill and Back To The Future 3 to name a few. Fucking CLINT, bitch!
