I much prefer David Pajo's solo Papa M stuff, especially Live From A Sharks Cage, I recommend that if you don't have it. His newer stuff with vocals is OK as well but totally different to the instrumental music.
Guest Gasss
Papa M were amazing at ATP2000. They played a cover of Turn Turn Turn by the Byrds which was incredible as after 2 days of meandering post rock I was craving some pop. They then went on to create the sonic equivalent of being born/dying/going into the light. The best bit was when Pajo guested with Two Dollar Guitar and no-one knew who he was. SuperMike!
I like the instrumental version of "Turn Turn Turn" on the Papa M singles collection CD that goes on for aaaaaaaaaaaaages. It's pretty cool.Trying not to buy stuff, but today i got "Love The Cup" by Sons & Daughters and "Conscience" by the Beloved due to cheapness in Fopp, and bought an old Animals That Swim album off eBay the other day (woo! 99p!) as well as a couple of Juana Molina albums. I really want the new Smog album too. And the Hookers Green one.
Guest bluesxman
Fiver in FOPP specials -Pop Will Eat Itself - Box Frenzy, blast from the past type purchase, not quite as dated as I thought it may be.13th Floor Elevators - Psychedelic Sounds Of...., already have the standard edition but this has heaps of extra songs.Juicy Lucy - Who Do You Love:The Anthology, bought out of interest as they do a cover of Frank Zappa's Willie The Pimp. Not too bad some of it sounds like early Beefheart. Some of it's a bit shady though....
