  1. Went out for lunch at an Italian in Glasgow today and devoured; a plate of mussels in garlic and white wine, some rather scrumptious winter vegetable rissotto and a slightly incongrous but equally delivcious sticky toffee pudding. All washed down by two rather splendid Italian coffees. The bill? Under a tenner. Swell.
  2. The Kaiser Chiefs Glasvegas U2 Red Hot Chilli Peppers Oh, and Sergeant, purely because some mindless bum-monkey at NME had the audacity to declare them the 'most exciting band in Scotland.' Get out. At best, you could say they pen adequate but dated lad-rock. I say they pen a pile of baggy pish, with fake accents, stupid haircuts and truly woeful Oasis-esque posturing. Oh, and not a band, but PITBULL. Currently in the charts with a song about a hotel orgy. Hateful little snivelling, chubby, goateed, chauvinistic fanny bojangles.
  3. Hmm. I think I'll just buy something I like. To say that we should all buy 'independent' music, purely because it's independent, is as bad as hoovering up pish from the charts. Just because music is 'independent'. doesn't mean it will 'enrich your soul.' It might be crap.
  4. ...better make that 99p. Clever itunes.
  5. Have you read her latest? It's hilarious. http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1516696 Scary. Oligarchy ftw!

  9. True. Or, if you're me, a fluffy paedo-bear chinstrap. Still works.
  10. My favourite line is "Well tonight thank God it's then instead of you". Charming.
  11. Good point. Musn't grumble though. They seemed to have slipped off the radar since the lead singer got pumped into Hermione. Maybe she cursed him.
  12. Yeeeeah. Dreaming as in wishing, rather than being asleep. I realise it sounds a bit cryptic, but it makes sense to me...

It loses points for including 'Everybody Do Miss America', which is the worst Ryan Adams song of all time! There are some good songs in there, but there's also a lot of tiresome guff. I'm with you in that Jacksonville City Nights is criminally underrated. However, I think it's topped by Cold Roses. I'd probably say my top five are... 1. Heartbreaker 2. Gold 3. Love is Hell 4. Cold Roses 5. 29/ Jacksonville City Lights As an aside, Crosses Out Name on Cardinology is AMAZING.
  15. Fair enough. I guess it's an attempt to convey a feeling that's hard to pin down, maybe a sense of claustrophobia or regret. In that sense, I think the density was deliberate and hopefully along wiht the melody it creates an unsettling atmosphere. Then again, maybe I just sound like a wank.
  16. Here's one that I partially ripped from a Keats (I think) poem A Change of Heart Sylvia breathes in the heart of the midnight And longs for the sleep that eludes her tonight She dreams a strangers dream Conscience hoards its strength for the darkness And waits in the wings until everything passes The mornings careful fingers pressed against the window pane You cant arrive when youre lacking direction Boredom will breed in the depths of perfection Shes climbing up the cream walls in her pristine holding cell A reluctant home for a heart that was stolen Words that were warm are stale and theyre frozen The future cannot hold whats slipping through our present hands This should be everything, but shes flat on her back and she stares at the ceiling This should be everything This should be everything
