Thanks so much for the kind words! We went in to Musical Vision last weekend for a live recording session and left three hours later with six demo tracks in the can, so all things considered we're pretty pleased with the way they've come out. We're booked in for a 'proper' recording session at the Depot in Edinburgh at the start of next month, with a view to getting a debut EP out in June. The finished product will hopefully sound a lot 'bigger'. All the songs we're lining up for the EP are in a similar vein to this one, maybe a bit more multi-sectional, but just as direct. I recently started singing in a brand new band called watchfires. This is a wee demo recording of 'King Midas', which is the first song we wrote together. Aye there's a nice ebb and flow to this record, with the result that you sit up and take notice through both the quieter and louder moments. Dynamics, innit. Will physical copies be available to order online somewhere?

Enjoyed this! Sunk and Ghost in the Attic are quality. North Star is great, I love the line "Women and children first they say/ As if it matters much when all of us will sleep beneath the waves". For all your adeptness at ballsy indie rock, it's your slightly more reined-in moments that actually usually turn out to be my favourites. The Brakes from your last record was another example of that. Any plans to play Aberdeen soon? Also, I don't mean to be a dick, but why are you not singing more often? The other guy's voice is nae bad but I think yours is much stronger, especially for the rockier stuff.

If you're heading out to the west end, Inn Deep on Great Western Road is great. It's quite new, run by Williams Bros brewery and always got nice stuff on tap. The food is also braw and cheap too - https://www.facebook.com/InnDeep. Three Judges at the foot of Byres Road is good for real ales, it's a Maclays inn so not the most inspiring atmosphere and usually full of old men, but you won't get a better pint of real ale in the west end. For Merchant City sort of area, I'd say either Blackfriars or Babbity Bowser.

I use a Peavey Classic 30, which unsurprisingly is 30W. It's been gigged pretty extensively and has yet to be pushed beyond level 3, and level 2 is waaaay too loud for playing in my flat. You'll be fine!

It's all more than amicable, I'm happy to say. Our bassist is moving to Canada and the rest of us have been spread out across Scotland by work commitments for some time now, so it's got to the stage that we just want to draw a line under it and move on. Three of us now live in Aberdeen though, so we're looking forward to starting something up in the near future. Update: The first 50 folk through the door will be getting a rather nice handmade CD with some of our songs on it. We're so nice.

I recommend Budapest, which for me is the most exciting and best value city in Europe. There is so much to do and see, including some unique things like the numerous (and cheap) thermal baths which are open all year round. Some baths have open air pools so you can sit out surrounded by snow during the winter! The nightlife is great, especially the 'ruin pubs' (essentially bars/venues set up in formerly abandoned warehouses/cellars/courtyards) that have sprung up all over the city - http://www.ruinpubs.com/index.php Lisbon is also great, a beautiful city. It's probably one of the cheapest locations in the Eurozone too.

I made mine with an old briefcase. Took the back hinges off and put on catches, then lined the whole thing with velcro. It's pretty sturdy and very easy to carry about!

I thought it was good, but not great. I think it could have been so, so much better if it had a 15 certificate, for a start. With Bane, you're relying on his sheer physical strength/taste for violence to make him a convincing bad guy. If we'd seen him being a bit more physically brutal - pulling off faces rather than swatting aside policemen in bloodless Power Rangers fashion - he would have been a lot more terrifying. The anarchy scenes when people are being pulled from their houses could also have been a lot more convincing. I know there was no chance it was ever going to be anything other than a 12A, but I think a bit more simple blood n' gore would have made the film a LOT better. There were a few plot things that annoyed me. I wasn't particularly looking for them but they were a few pretty glaring ones. How did Bruce/Batman instantaneously get back to a cut-off Gotham from the middle of what looked like a Middle Eastern desert? The swiftly-decaying bomb getting chucked about. Bruce/Batman scaling a sheer rock face sans knee cartilage. Catwoman is a thief, right... so why is she AMAZING at hand-to-hand combat? The League of Shadows training explains why Bane and Batman are good fighters, but she's just a burglar, no? I didn't buy the whole Bane-being-in-love thing either. I thought I had his motivations nailed down but then that came up and sort of muddied the waters. Didn't he hate Miranda's dad for rejecting him? Why would he want to 'carry on his work' with her? I might be getting my wires crossed there so if someone could shed light on that it'd be appreciated! Same goes for catwoman - she was all for anarchy until it actually started, then suddenly she's wistfully picking up artefacts and saying 'this was someone's home'. No shit, what did you think would happen?! It was undoubtedly entertaining but it just didn't seem to stick to its internal logic. Also, Marion Cotillard has to win some kind of razzie for the most unintentionally hilarious on-screen death.

Yes. I'd never heard of her until this year, but this is up there with the best records of 2012 so far for me. How does it compare with her first two? I've been meaning to get my hands on them.

Got the megabus before and it wasn't so bad. Went for a night out in Glasgow, then caught the 4am-ish bus and slept most of the way down. It was about four quid from memory. Nae bad.
