I don't know why I'm bothering, but...

Hmmmmm

Interesting thread and one I thought would not get locked because that would be backing the case put to the mods.

I've been on several forums over the years. Nearly got thrown off one for very little to be honest.

Two of the ones I visit most are totally different. Both about motorcycles, yet they differ a lot.

One has it's mods and they keep on top of spam etc. However, they don't do much in the way of locking threads or deleting stuff. The only time I seem to remember a locked thread was when Maggie T died. Things got out of hand due to politics etc. Other than that it's basically a free for all. Yes even though this is the case, it's the best forum I've been on for bikes because the guys really try to help you out if you're stuck with something. Jesus there's even a welder guy on there and folk send him stuff to weld....he does it for fook all. They also try to go out on bike runs a meet up just for the sake of it....because they like bikes...IE theor hobby. The other forum is a bit more more of 'look what I have' or I've just added this to my bike'. Not the same sort of craique (is that the right spelling), but still handy for info etc.

On the other hand, I've posted on here recently asking for advice and - up until this posting - have only got one reply. Not really a good response to my request for advice. The advice I was asking is something I'm sure dozens of folks on here could help with....but yet no offers. I think you can see the differences in the forums. One has a bunch of bull $hitting auld dodgers on it, that will help at the drop of a hat, or a tap of a keyboard. The other one full of 'music lovers' that don't seem to want to be part of a community. "Aberdeen Music" should tell you something...it's about music and people in or around Aberdeen (I'm sure there's other of course) yet they won't help out when they can. Therefore I can see the forum getting less and less used, as the users are doing it no favours..................not just the Mods. Although they are oot sometimes (that's just a wee joke)

Sorry to rant on folks.

I get that you're frustrated, but recording is just a side of things that quite a small number of people are nerdy about on here any more. At any rate, it might help to be more descriptive in your thread title as it'll help attract someone in the know. Maybe open it up to a wider discussion could work - 'how do YOU home record?'. While I'm hardly good enough at recording to feel confident offering you advice from scratch, I'd definitely get involved in that.

Boo fucking hoo.

You can't just wade onto a forum and expect people to drop everything to help you if you don't contribute in any other way. That's like going up to someone on the street and asking them to hold your bag while you tie your shoe without saying hello first.

It makes me laugh when someone puts their music up for critique and it's their one and only post. Then they reply getting arsey because noone gives a shit.

You posted your thread on a Thursday night, Friday's are often quiet around here.  I'd be a bit more patient.  In the meantime there are LOADS of threads on the site where recording techniques have been discussed in the past.  Here's one to start with:

http://www.aberdeen-music.com/topic/47035-whats-your-recording-setup-and-method/page-11?hl=recording+setup+and+method#entry768839

Sorry you didn't appreciate my reply, I hoped it might help to clarify what you're having problems with and serve to bump the thread to get it noticed for the morning posters. Didn't seem to work, but it's Friday.

Yeh you're of course all correct...it is my fault. I think my post was clear enough in my subject matter, and also in content. I was asking to be shown how to work the equipment. I have the manuals for the gear but still could not get any joy.

Chris - I did reply to your post, and thanks for taking the time to reply. When I wrote the my post on this thread yesterday, there was 60 views on the 'help' thread...so it's not like there was no one lookng at the site.

Interesting that my post on this thread has received several replies within a very short space of time. But then that was not askling for help.

I travelled to many places around the world and the general concensus is that Aberdeen people are miserable sods....I disagree, as they are also grumpy sods as well lol.

My post was not pointing fingers at anyone in particular on AM, just my general thoughts. So it now seems that I can't voice my thoughts without some sort of comeback.

Colb - What a fooking useless reply that was. What has that got to do with anything? Maybe I missed theforum rule that said post must not have humour, sarcastic remarks....or 'nonsense' on them. I can only think that you are talking about my post about been an aging, half deaf guitarist. Well I am aging and and am half deaf. Maybe I should have said 'young budding guitarist'....now that would be nonsense.

cheers

Bri

There's a line between funny posts and twenty silly posts at the same time - you keep crossing it. You come off like a fanny and people ignore your posts - seems logical to me.

Sorry Spock.

I'll tell you what. If you know how to work recording stuff. I'll pay for a couple hours at Toms and buy you a pie and a pint if you show me how to work the stuff. How's that? I'll promise to not make any non funny comments during the session. Is that fair?

Gee there's an olive breach if ever I saw one :)

BTW. I don't think I've ever made 20 posts at the same time...funny or otherwise.

Have you had a look for YouTube demonstrations/specialist forums? I mean, it sucks that your belly aching is getting more attention than your original quandary, but I doubt any of the posters are secret experts in interfacing Boss multitrack recorders with whatever PC software you are using and just refusing to offer guidance.

Can we close that thread about time wasters wanted? It's starting to do my head in.

Just don't read it. The Celebrity Dead Pool and Stalking threads are threads I dislike, so I stay out of them. Easy.

It reminds me of the guy at work who always moans about how much he hates the Brew Dog pub, but he seems to go there nearly every week. Just don't go!
