Murrr
Firing him would be a mental decision, tbh. There's nobody out of work who's gonna do a better job than him, and if they nag someone else's manager they'll have to pay compensation to that manager's existing club, as well as the massive fees they'd have to pay for his dismissal. They rely on Gerrard and Torres far too much, and that's his fault for not building a squad with enough depth to cope when they're not in the team. Aquilani is a curious signing too; unless they're going to switch their system around, he's going to leave the team looking very top-heavy. He's not gonna slot into the Xabi Alonso deep-lying playmaker role, he's a player more accustomed to playing further up the pitch... so if they play him in the hole, where does Gerrard go? His injury record is horrendous too.Good manager going through a rough patch, though.

I didn't realise it until my team was playing in the same league as his. All of his Dad's cockyness with none of the accolades to back it up. Not a bad manager, but definitely someone I'm glad to see punted after that "Blue Brazil" pish when they punted us out of the cup.
delboy
i shall miss his post match interview on radio cambs, he only just signed a 4 year contract as well and was refused permission to speak to reading in the summer. but he did a good job there and much as i hate the cunt think his sacking is a little unfair as it was clearly always going to be a struggle this season. but you dont do yourself any favours when you sign players on loan from histon i guess! Soda Jerk
My Liverpool supporting workmate informs me they'd have to pay rafa 18 million if they sacked him. If that's true, then it looks like they are stuck with Rafa for a long time.On the day, Rafa is a good manager tactically. But you have to question his managerial abilities over his course at Liverpool by looking at his squad. Bringing in Torres was certainly good business. Who else has actually been a good shout? Benayoun, Kuyt, Mascherano, Reina... Then compare those to the absolute flops that he spent a fortune on. It's through the roof. He has a poor squad, and he's had more than enough time and money (until now) to change this. For that, he's not a good manager. However, I'd consider Mark Hughes' head to be called for first. He's had a bottomless chest of money to splash around, and has managed to bring in top quality players. Now the hype and expectation around City has settled, they are struggling against sides they should be turning over. Mark Hughes' tactics are unquiestionably poor, and when things start to go wrong, he doesn't have any way of changing things around. He's also a poor businessman, as he's paid over the odds for many players, paying them inflated wages, just to bring top players to a club lacking in history and prestige. If these madcap owners bail, who's going to want to come in and pay Joleon Lescott roughly 8 or 9 times the amount he should be earning, amongst several other ridiculously bankrolled divas? Besides, if Hughes gets the boot, we'll get to enjoy the speculation of celebrity managers possibly taking the hotseat. Imagine what a soap opera the Premier League would become if Fergie Junior stepped in. Christ. Or perhaps City will transform into a Real Madrid like structure, where the manager has little or no say in anything that goes on, ever. ca_gere
BBC SPORT | Football | Internationals | Germany keeper dies in accidentBeen changed to 'suicide' now. Sad stuff.Back to the non-real world... I made comments about Ngog being shit but it seems as if he's picked up his game, that was Eduardo level stuff the other night. Not sure about MH having his head in the noose just yet. I reckon this Sheikh is a sensible enough fella who realises a team needs time and it's better not to boot the manager at the first signs of struggle alla Real. He's not done a bad job so far either, he's not been scared to pull off the stars when they're playing badly and has been tinkering with formations, trying to find the best one whilst not losing in the process. The problem has been the stars not performing, rather than it being down to managerial tactics. Barry has been awful since the Villa game, Roque is running at 60%, Tevez hasn't found his shooting boots and as for the defence... So far it's been dreadful but they are showing signs of organisation. Been keeping an eye on the Man City forum this year and as fickle a bunch of bellends they are, they're generally behind MH and see the players' inconsistency as the problem. Binho is back soon, might shake things up. That said, two losses in a row and things might be completely different.
Soda Jerk
Robinho can't function in winter. He went completely off the radar last winter, and just dawdled around with his gloves looking miserable. He started hitting form again when the sun shone. ca_gere
True, but last year he had the likes of Benjani and Jo to play with. Also, he's had a year to acclimatise. I predict a return to form. I'd like to see Vladimir Weiz get a runny in the team too. He looks a handy wee jinky type and would maybe slot in once Bellamy has gone back to being shit. Fast but shit. delboy
this made me chuckle a lot, taken from Grimsby Town's forum, I think we can all relate to it!!!Dear Players of Grimsby Town FCI am writing with regard to my absolute astonishment and disbelief as to the sheer magnitude of your complete lack of talent and failure to carry out the job for which you are paid to do. I am not aware of any swear word or other derogatory phrase in my current vocabulary which comes close to a description of your performance (and I use that term loosely) this afternoon, but let me just say that you have collectively reached a level of inadequacy and ineptitude that neither I nor modern science had previously considered possible. In fact I recall a time, in my youth, when I decided to call in sick at work and instead spent the entire day in my one bedroom flat wearing nothing but my underpants, eating toast and wnking furiously over second-rate Scandinavian porn. Yet somehow, I still managed to contribute more to my employer in that one Andrex-filled day than you complete bunch of toss-baskets have contributed to this club in your entire time here.I would genuinely like to know how you pathetic little pssflaps sleep at night, knowing full well that you have taken my money and that of several thousand others and delivered precisely **** all in return. I run a business myself, and I believe I could take any 4,000 of my customers at random; burn down their houses, impregnate their wives and then dismember their children before systematically sending them back in the post, limb-by-limb, and still ensure a level of customer satisfaction which exceeds that which I have experienced at Blundell Park at any time so far this season. You are a total disgrace, not only to your profession, not only to the human race, but to nature itself. This may sound like an exaggeration, but believe me when I say that I have passed kidney stones which have brought me a greater level of pleasure and entertainment than watching each of you worthless excuses for professional footballers attempt to play a game you are clearly incapable of playing, week-in, week-out.I considered, for a second, that I was perhaps being a little too harsh. But then I recalled that I have blindly given you all the benefit of the doubt for too long now. Yes, for too long you have failed to earn the air youve been breathing by offering any kind of tangible quality either as footballers or as people in general. As such, I feel its only fair that your supply runs out forthwith.I trust, at this precise moment in time, that Mr Fenty is in his office tapping away on the Easyjet web site booking you all one-way flights to Zurich, complete with an overnight stay with our cheese eating friends at Dignitas. Dont bother packing your toothbrush you wont need it.In the event that our beloved chairman cant afford the expense (understandable given that hes soon going to have to assemble a new squad from scratch), then I am prepared to sell my family (including my unborn child) to a dubious consortium of Middle Eastern businessmen in order to pay for the flights. Christ, Ill drive you there myself, one-by one, without sleep, if I have to.Failing that, understanding that most dubious Middle Eastern businessmen are tied-up purchasing Premier League football clubs, I ask you to please take matters into your hands. Use your imagination, guys strangle yourselves or cover yourself in tinfoil and take a fork to a nearby plug socket, or something. Just put yourselves and us fans out of our collective misery. So, in summary, you pack of repugnant, sputum-filled, invertebrate bstards; leave this club now and dont you ****ing dare look back. Youve consistently demonstrated less passion and desire than can commonly be found within the contents of a sloths scrtum, so frankly you can just all **** off dont pass go, dont collect your wages, dont ever come back to this town again.I look forward to you serving me at my local McDonalds drive-thru in the near future.Yours sincerelyA very disillusioned Mariner

Soda Jerk
Real Madrid got boo'd off the pitch by their own fans last night after losing 4-1 on agg to Alcorcn in the cup. They are looking a bit lost without Ronaldo, and have no drive whatsoever, even though they've got Kaka, Alonso, Benzema, Higuan, Van Der Vaart, Van Nistelrooy, Raul, Sergio Ramos... Christ. They probably need to be looking at Pellegrini if he can't make it work with that. The fans are already calling for his head so it seems. The managerial revolving door at the Bernabeau is always quite entertaining.
