Guest treader.
First local gig was (I think):Gilman Street, Griffus, Quik andddd...someone else. (I want to say Starfall, but I dont think it was them)
Skull Commander
My first gig I was taken to was Gary Glitter at the AECC in 1990. I was 12. He winked at me. At the time I thought it was innocent enough lol.First proper gig I went to was Rocket from the Crypt at The Lemon Tree. I think i was 15 or 16.I remember this was just after a big refurbishment and they were either the first or second gig since they re-opened. The trumpet played got a little carried away and punched a hole in a ceiling tile.Don't forget the comedy falling out the fire door at the side of the stage! That gig had everything. While we are on that subject does anyone remember the support bad or who they were? I remember them being instrumental and perhaps European (seem to remember thinking they had accents when they spoke), but I never did find out who they were. Free Korps
I went to the Capitol with my whole family to see the band that sung that song "In a Big Country"... I forget the name of the them though... we were sitting in the front row of the balcony i think.
Guest treader.
You mean 'In a Big Country' by Big Country presumably.

Lemonade
This thread surely has more references to Rocket From The Crypt than any other thread, ever. I've counted three so far.My first local gig as far as I can remember was The Rejects and Liber-8 at the old Drakes on the Castlegate, around 2000 I think. There might have been others before that but I can't remember. That was the first night I ever met Nicky Casino as well as I recall.

Drama department at Mintlaw Academy 8-)Can't really remember what came first chronologically, I've been to a lot of Rescue Party (or New Dawn Era as they were called back then) early gigs, and Steven Milne/Populous early gigs many moons ago.Remember a Battle of the Bands in Exodus back in the day, with Populous getting pipped at the Semi Final stage, and New Dawn Era coming 4th in the final. I think Diablo, 28 were among the others that night, can't remember what the band that won were called though.....

Drama department at Mintlaw Academy 8-)Was it by any chance the Lego Spacemen? If so I've seen videos of that gig! My old flatmate was the guitarist. If we're going back that far, mine was DOA at Fraserburgh Academy social area.I also religiously attended every White Deth (sic) gig in the mid 90s in the Broch, at Cheers, Leisure Centre, the Station Hotel, even the beach tea rooms. They were only a covers band but they were fucking great. Their bassist and their guitarist were both ridiculously talented, they did loads of Sabbath and stuff like that. Awesome

I remember one of the guys, was a pretty thin guy with really long blonde hair, but no idea what his name is!!

There was a guy called Ingram from New Deer who was the singer, Greg Hurst from Maud on rythym guitar, Dale on lead guitar, Scott on bass and Phil on drums. Scott, Dale and Phil later became The Following, and later Orson, they were quite good.

The guy with long hair, was definitely either playing guitar or bass and doing a bit of backing vocals. I can picture him, but never knew what his name was!!To be fair - they were all about 16 at the time, and I actually remember thinking they were pretty good... honest

I have fond memories of Orson. My first local gig would've been Alliance (featuring Ben Weapon on drums and Justin Bloodnut) in Hatton town hall.
