Improved Thinker
I had attempted to watch "The Amazing Spider Man 2" (2014) but the disk was faulty so that will need to go back to the shop. So anyway the latest film I have seen was "Shark Tale" (2004) which I liked at the cinema when I was 8 but hadn't seen it since so I put it on and it didn't enjoy it as much. I watched it with my nephew and niece so it's not like I watch random kids movies by myself or anything.
ca_gere
12 Years A Slave Pretty much what I expected: a bleak, well acted film. Not really much to critique or love about it. It was a good watch but wouldn't be in a rush to recommend it to anyone or watch it again. Doesn't paint a pretty picture of American society back then. White people are dicks. Lemonade
Best Worst Movie - documentary about Troll 2, often cited as the worst film ever made and with a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 20 years after it's release it picked up a cult following and this follows the stars of it, many of whom haven't done any acting since, as they reunite for promotional events and special screenings and stuff. The film is consistently entertaining and most of the cast are quite happy to make fun of it and themselves, except for the deluded Italian director who genuinely thinks it's a work of art and gets really defensive about it. It's a bit of a stretch getting a feature length out of such a limited topic but it's a fun film. ***
Lemonade
I want to watch Troll 2 now. Apparently the whole script was written by Italians in really broken English and they insisted the actors read it as written. It's pretty obvious from the dialogue. Some amazing acting on display here too.

It was originally called "Goblin" and made as a stand alone film but the studio decided to market it as a sequel to that film because they thought it would flounder on its own. Another fun Troll 2 fact - there are no trolls in Troll 2.

The Milner
I think someone reviewed this a few pages back but, The Purge - Somewhat disappointing. I was expecting a lot more violence and bad things, but it just never really got going at all. The ending was a bit crap as well. 2/10. Paranoid Android
Rookie of the year I went to a baseball game a couple of days ago and it inspired me to watch a childhood favourite of mine. It doesn't really hold up, I suppose it just wasn't made to be watched by a 30 year old in 2014. However I did at least enjoy it a little for the nostalgia factor alone. I still don't understand why it ends with the division championship rather than the world series. I think I might also re-watch The Sandlot Kids to see if that fairs any better. James Broonbreed
I watched 10 minutes of Drop Zone last night. Probably couldn't handle much more because it was so bodaciously extreme and gnar.

waltz
Busty CopsWhen murder most foul threatens to break up the happy world of pornography in California, the LAPD send out their best outfit to go undercover amongst the glitz and baby oil.The Busty Cops trio try to get some answers the only way they know how - that is, very sexually. The special effects (including fingers pointed into a gun shape with an amazing CGI "BANG!" effect) are outstanding, the acting phenomenal and the creative storyline (a murder on the set of a porn? I mean... Woah!) make Busty Cops a treat for all the family.5/5.[EDIT: I must've watched this at least 7 years ago but that's pretty much what I remember happening. I've not seen a film since then, as I found this film does the job.) Edited October 11, 2014 by waltz
Murrr
HALF PAST DEAD. Steven Seagal is in jail again, this time with 50% more hair, 30% more body fat, and 100% more do-rag. Seagal is apparently Russian, though you'd never guess it from his fucking stupid voice, and co-stars with Ja Rule. There's an adorable/borderline racist scene near the beginning with Big Ja teaching Sensei Seagal the best way to say "aight." Other than that, Ja Rule is pretty gash, but not quite as shitty as Kurupt, who's supposed to be comic relief. What a wonderful plot. Fake Russian Seagal is an undercover FBI agent who infiltrates an Eastern European criminal organisation so he can't get sent to jail to kidnap a supreme court judge before some shady criminal dudes kidnap her first. Oh yeah: the prison is fucking Alcatraz and all. Not sure what the judge was doing there, but it doesn't really matter. There's also a weird subplot about Seagal's dead wife, and a scene with Seagal and chief bad guy MORRIS CHESTNUT swinging around on massive chains, trying to kick the shit out of each other. The fight scenes are just wonderful: it's honestly like something out of the WWE. Sensei will punch a guy, and said guy will go flying across the room, do a couple of flips, hit the ground face-first, then get up and fall into a trash can. Extra shout-outs to Ja Rule's stuntman, who takes an absolute battering throughout. Great stuff. The ending is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a long time, and given that I've watched two Seagal films in two days, I think it's safe to say that I'm pretty well-informed on dumb things at the moment. This thing was an absolute treat.
James Broonbreed
http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3069837593 This is a very, very good film. It really shows off Fat Joe and Big Pun's acting abilities.
Mr Owl PhD
'71Thriller set in the titular year in the non-Polish part of Ireland. A young soldier gets left to find his way back to barracks through the hostile streets of Belfast. A really excellent and tense film that thoroughly gets across how much of a war zone this was at the time. If there's a point to be made it's maybe that the real divisions were between those who got caught up in the Troubles and those who sought to add to them. *****
Gypsum_Fantastic
Good films seen recently that I can't be arsed writing proper reviews about: Pride: Good film about how the LGBT community raised money for the miners. Clash of cultures, funny moving. Dominic West does some ace dancing. Paddy Considine is amazing as usual same as Joe Gilgun, Jessica Gunning and a host of others. What We Did on Our Holidays: Went to see it as I like the Big Yin and the missus likes David Tennant. Done by the Outnumbered team. Good family film that has a a bit of a dark side, not in an edgy way just in terms of realities of life.
ca_gere
Watched Heathers for the first time the other day. Mainly because Netflix kept insisting I should watch it. Lemonade
Muppets Most Wanted - The last Muppets film was a triumph, a very worthy reboot, funny, heart-warming, full of great songs. I actually shed a tear in the cinema. I love the Muppets and I don't mind admitting it. This one is a crime caper, and like all sequels nowadays is set abroad, on a European tour in this case. It's like they changed all the writers for this film because it isn't funny. Like not even one time. and the songs are all completely forgettable as well. Where this one really fucks up though is that the number one priority seems to be to shoehorn in as many celebrity cameos as possible, which takes screen time away from the Muppets. It's unbelievable, almost every single scene has a celebrity cameo or two, every bit part, one, two line part is played by someone famous, by the end it's become a game of "spot the famous person". As a result, established Muppets like Fonzie and Gonzo only get a couple of throwaway lines, and aside from the Kermit / Miss Piggy subplot and the main plot involving the new "evil Muppet" Constantine (who is a pretty shit character) the Muppets are little more than set dressing. I WANT MUPPETS IN MY MUPPET FILM. Poop.**
