Bullshit. MJK is a legend and a kinda mythical figure to tool fans, partly because of his amazing vocals and partly because of the mystery element surrounding him. Tool fans in general can be quite obsessive (for want of a better word) about him and the band, so if one guy goes on stage and hugs him, you could bet that within 5 mins there would be someone else trying the same thing.

Guy got what he deserved I say, he had no right to be there. If he wanted to hug him he could have waited til after the show and asked him, not just climbed onto the stage mid-song. Especially during 'Pushit' which is a brilliant song. Its not as if he punched him.

Jesus that live performance looks pretty boring, maybe the guy actualy wanted to kill the singer just for boring them to death.... but then again it could just be an example of the singer being a twat.

I would say thats pretty representative of there live performance and stage presence.

But saying that there fantastic live and you really have to be there to experience it, the music, the vocals and the visuals come together to make an amazing show.

As for stage invader it's not exactly a band for that carry on and i think Maynard was just having a laugh as a martial arts move isn't exactly something you would see onstage everyday and the last thing the person expected. :D

Maynard a twat i dont think so.... :moody:

And then if the guy takes out a knife or something similar? I wouldn't blame big-name bands for getting pretty paranoid after what happened to Dimebag Darrell...

if the guy took out a knife, i'd expect him to use his amazing kung fu skills. not try out his the latest move he's seen on the WWF (i think he wanted to do the 'rock bottom' but hadn't perfected it on his mates yet).

Haha ace! The guy looks like he's quite getting off on the choke hold position. Let's face it' date=' who wouldn't.[/quote']

Shame it wasn't Ticks & Leeches he was singing...

I hope you choke...

Bugger. That song was in my head most of yesterday, and I expect it'll be the same today.

What a way to treat your fans...does he forget who stumps up their hard earned cash to put his ass on that fucking stage in the first place? Fucking tool....

If a security guard was to choke a fan like that, they would probably find their ass out of a job these days, the "musician" does it, and is idolised.

I wonder why the lights went down?

If Maynard did choke the fan dont you think he'd have been sued by now, if this incident was serious we'd have heard about it long ago.

What is it with you guys? Just cause a guy buys your cd's and tickets to your gig doesn't mean he has the right to climb on stage mid-song. Get a grip.

Where do you draw the line? Do u let a fan shag your wife because, hey "he spent his hard-earned cash on your cd's, t-shirts and tickets."

He could have fucked up someone else in the crowd's favourite song. That person has also bought the cd's, t-shirts, tickets etc.

Its different if he asked people onto the stage, like FlavaFlav (spelling?) from Public Enemy at the Music Hall. But he didn't.

Ah maybe exaggerating a bit with the wife bit but you get my point.

Its not the act of keeping fans off the stage that I question, but rather why the artist feels they somehow are in power to attack the said individual without due care for their well being....its not like an intruder busting into his home, or someone stalking him in the streets, in which case it may be considered self defence, and to be honest, the guy just looked like he wanted to prance around. Watch how a band like Fugazi deal with hecklers, quickly, swiftly, show goes on, idiot is forgotten about. No phoney handshakes that lead to judo...

No, spending 100s and 100s of dollars on CD's/shirts/merch/tickets does not entitle you to get up on stage if the band don't feel comfortable with that happening, and thats why these bands will spend more on security than most people will earn in a lifetime, but surely one could appreciate a fans excitement and respect that its thanks to those fans that they are in the position that they are in.

Maybe instead of instore signings, they'll start doing instore smacks in the face? Might knock some musical sense into them ;)

That made me feel uncomfortable watching that.

They were both wrong - You shouldn't ever invade a performer's stage (unless asked a la Iggy or Flava Flav) but Keenan's actions were pretty cruel I thought.

Good point about Dimebag - Maybe performers do need more protection. Perhaps the security should have been tighter at the Tool gig to make sure no - one could make it up on to the stage?

But the guy didn't deserve a chokehold.

Maynaard has lost "scene points" from me...............

I bet the boy got a parping great love trumpet, and a crazy story to tell all his friends, and grand children in years to come.

I bet he loved it.

maynard is 3 feet tall' date=' skinny and camp.

I don't know how he managed that move.[/quote']

It's all in the hips man. The skinny, jabby hips.

The guy fairly ends up looking like a prick. I would've thought that security would have come and escorted the guy offstage though instead of Maynard finishing the song sitting on the dude. Strange indeed.

I wonder what the church would make of all this? :D
