  1. Yeah, he did a couple of set ups and fixed some wires for me when he worked at Prosound - however, I had heard similar tales of backed up work since he had moved on...
  2. Can anyone recommend a good guitar repairer in Aberdeen? My left handed Epiphone Sheraton needs its volume pots replaced as they both appear to be buggered. Took it into Prosound but they told me that their repair dude has moved on. They recommended some place called Kinellar out in Blackburn. Called the dude up but got his answerphone. Called R&B to see if they would give me a qoute but was told that they wouldn't touch it as it was such a fiddly job - Sheraton's have no access panels which makes them a bitch to work with. He reckoned 100 - 150 if I could find anyone to do the job. He even went as far as to suggest that I might be as well bunging the guitar on ebay and just buying a new one!o_O Anyone else out there got any ideas while I wait for this Kinellar dude to call me back?
  3. Anyone else having a problem with their ipod not playing whole songs sometimes? Sometimes mine cuts off midway and moves to another track. Very annoying:swearing:
  4. "The boy ain't right" King of the Hill is mostly overlooked by most people who need to be told what's cool to watch. It's way too subtle for most people. One of my fave episodes is the one where Bobby starts smoking:up: crack's me up
  5. This is fantastic! I've just emailed all my friends to let them know too. Stick it to the Man!
  6. Then its a shame that the new release is actually those same dvd versions with the original versions tacked on as a "fun bonus" (from LFL press release) in unrestored' date=' non anamorphic fashion made from ancient laserdisc version. You could be forgiven for thinking otherwise due to the fact that the Lucasfilm marketing hype is all about how they are releasing the unaltered original films due to popular demand. In reality, its more likely that Lucasfilm has a heap of surplus "Special Editions" lying around in a wharehouse that they want to shift before everyone upgrades to High Def formats and the fact that they have some new computer games to flog. Sigh. More info here: [url']http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/showthread.php?t=234933 for those that are interested
  7. "Where Eagles Dare" is also pretty good but "Where Eagles Dare" is more straight-forward boys own adventure whereas "Kelly's Heroes" is flat out bonkers at times and could really have only been made in the 70s. "Broadsword calling Danny Boy"
  8. Yeah! To steal a quote from The Scotsman today ...its the Three Kings of the Seventies! Clint, Telly Savalas and Donald Sutherland as an anachronistic Hippy tank commander - what's not to like!?
  9. Amen brother - Jerry has been my favourite recurring character on the show since back in the day - other receptionists have come and gone (Randy, E-ray, Frank, Bob) but no one can match big Jerry.
  10. Cool! Saw them in Lochgelly a few weeks ago and they were ace. Any word on tickets, cost etc?
  11. You make a fair point - I did consider that the crazy US legal system may have just taken a long time to grind into gear. However, I still think that its a bullshit case. Perhaps he would be better spending his time taking the US government to court for sending him to Iraq in the first place to take part in a conflict which has a pretty shakey legal justification in the first place or he should sue the company that made the tyre on the Blackhawk helicopter which exploded and maimed him in the first place (the bbc story doesn't give too much detail but surely helicopter tyres don't just explode without reason) without wishing to sound facietious, both of these have more to do with any pain and distress he has suffered than Michael Moore. Moore didn't put words into his mouth, in fact Moore didn't even speak to him. As a filmmaker he has a right to cut footage together any way he sees fit. The backlash against Moore seems to be a bit extreme ...and also a tad immature given that most anti-Moore comments are of the "he's a fat c*nt" variety. So the man's a pieabetic, who cares? Yes, you can pick holes in his movies and his selective use of facts, you can have issues with his manipulative techniques (show me a filmmaker who doesn't try to manipulate their audience though) but you can't take away from him that he is one of the few prominent voices of dissent in a country that has become increasingly polarised to a dangerous extent since 9/11.
  12. Sgt Damon is asking for damages because of "loss of reputation, emotional distress, embarrassment, and personal humiliation" according to the case filed in Suffolk Superior Court, Massachusetts. ...but its taken him over two years to notice <cough> bullshit <cough>
  13. Anyone notice the resemblance between Pete and Klunk from Dastardley and Muttley? Very similar sound effects
  14. LOL! I didn't think anyone in this neck of the woods was aware of that one:up: Dundee is a far nicer place than it was when I went to University there 92-96 (the real one - not the one in Kirkcaldy) . The town centre was a real dump and it was well understood that there were bits of town you did not venture into if you were a student. By 96 a lot of the changes that are there now were taking place and if shopping is your thing then Dundee now pisses all over the "silver city" for variety. On a related note - does anyone who's ever walked down Union Street on a Friday/Saturday night should know that Aberdeen doesn't have much to be snooty about.
  15. Cheers for the info - I'm looking forward to getting it - did notice the Joe Jackson "homage" but it doesn't detract from the song one bit. Never heard of Jason Faulkner ...but then I'm only vaguely aware of Brendan Benson - any of his stuff worth checking out? Is your version of "Superfly" one of the double pack ones? When all the Curtis Mayield stuff was being put out on cd (and when I bought mine) all the cds came as two-fers. Superfly had the lesser known soundtrack to "Short Eyes" included on it.
  16. Is the Raconteurs album any good? - ordered it today purely on the strength of "Steady as she goes." Haven't listened to "Superfly" in ages - must go dig it out now that you've reminded me.
  17. CHORTLE! FNAR GIBBER - sorry couldn't resist it!
  18. Anything covered by Hayseed Dixie is pure class. Just back from seeing them last night and every song was a winner!
  19. "...please forward this to as many people as possible so I can make my girlfriend eat her words..." At the risk of being in bad taste I would say that she will be eating more than her words in about 1,000,000 more hits:up:
