  1. Just like it says in the title. Birthday pressie for the wife if I can get them.
  2. No worries. Was worth asking. Cheers.
  3. Would you take less than the £100 you mentioned?
  4. Is it a twin or single speaker model? I sold my AC30 head and cab because it was too big and heavy for my needs and I have a Pathfinder 15 for home use so this might fit the bill as something for band practice and small-ish gigs (or even running it through a cab). Still open to offers?
  5. Still got the Vox for sale? Might be able to make you an offer.
  6. I still have a large physical CD collection and still tend to buy them via Amazon and Ebay as they often work out cheaper than downloads. If I'm in town I will usually have a browse around OneUp and pick up a few discs from the 2nd hand section or new stuff it's reasonably priced - I have occasionally succumbed to the "just gotta have it" impulse and bought something from them that I knew I could get online cheaper. The curious thing is I then go home and rip it all to itunes and tend to use my ipod and iphone for listening to just purely for the convenience of having a huge swathe of music (38,000+ songs) on hand wherever I am. A lot of my cds had to go into storage after our second kid arrived as we needed the space and there was no way the guitars were going in the garage! I do sometimes download from Amazon and itunes but generally only if I can't source a physical copy for a reasonable price - for example The Go Go's "Talk Show" album is selling for silly money (£50+ for a new cd!) but £6.90 on download. I gave spotify a try and liked the idea of being able to listen to pretty much anything I fancied but the reality of a shitty internet connection out here in the sticks convinced me that it wouldn't be worthwhile taking out a premium subscription.
  7. Bad news - http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/jan/09/wilko-johnson-terminal-cancer Saw him last time he came up to the Lemon Tree - still amazing to watch his playing. By the sounds of things he's planning to cram quite a bit into his last few months.
  8. thought you would like that one ;-)
  9. "Coast to Coast" never fails for me.
  10. Pretty much the same here - he sort of turned into a parody of himself for a few years. Apparently a lot of this new one is based on stuff he had left over when he wrote Trainspotting so ironically it feels "fresher" than most of his recent stuff.
  11. Anyone read Skagboys yet? I'm about 100 pages in and enjoying it so far. I'm not normally a fan of prequel stories but I have to admit it's fun being immersed back in the world of Renton, Sick Boy, Spud, Begbie and co.
  12. You should try Adywan's "Star Wars: Re-visited" Not only did he take out all the "Special Edition" junk he re-edited the movie and re-did a load of the effects as well as fixing most of the bloopers and mistakes. Try www.orginaltrilogy.com for more info on it and other fan-edits. Note to mods - feel free to remove the link if I'm inadvertantly breaking any rules - the originaltrilogy page doesn't host any torrents or files.
  13. Also if someone out there is interested purely in buying a 2x12 Vox cab then now would be a good time to stick an oar in!
  14. TBH I've got no need for the cab without it! I'm open to a bit of negotiation - obviously I'd like to get as much as I can for them but if nobody is willing to pay that price then I've got to be realistic about it.
  15. Any interest at £500 or thereabouts? I know that a lot of folk are feeling the pinch right now (hence flogging the amp in the first place!) but surely there's someone out there in AB-Music land that has a hankering for a classic all-valve amp?
  16. Thanks to the recession and not being in a band for ages I've decided to part company with my VOX AC30 CCH and cab.I've owned them both from new and they've had only very mild use - couple of gigs and some rehearsals and that's it. The rest of the time they have been sat in my garage. I found that when I was gigging I was using the house amps anyway so lugging the bugger (it does weigh a ton!) about was a bit of a chore. The head unit is in great condition. I have noticed that a couple of the little micro switches (I think that's what they're called are a bit wobbly but they work fine - probably easy sorted if you know what you're doing) The cab has 2 x12" speakers in it and has a couple of scuffs from being manhandled in and out the car and a teeny crack in the VOX badge that you wouldn't notice but I'm pointing it out in the interests of full disclosure. I'm looking for around £600 but am open to sensible offers. A brand new AC30 combo would set you back nearly £700. Can email you pics if you PM me your address. You can have a shufty at this link for more info: http://www.voxshowroom.com/uk/amp/ac30cch.html
  17. Aye, sad news indeed. Can't really see how Springsteen could continue with the "classic" E-Street setup after this as Clarence's playing is a huge part of many of the songs - sure you can get another Sax player but it wouldn't be the same as the guy you've stood beside for the best part of 40 years. Anyway - some nice clips to remember him by... Clarence Clemons' Best Saxophone Solos: E Street Band Legend Dies At 69
  18. Suprised I didn't hear about this sooner - found out from Richard Littlejohn's column in the Daily Mail today of all places! Bruce Springsteen sends message of support to Clarence Clemons | Music | guardian.co.uk

  21. Thanks for posting this news. I'm hoping for something in the vein of the Pet Sounds Sessions set. I have all the bootlegs but it will be nice to have everything from the vaults out there in the highest quality and maybe a few surpises...? The vocal sessions for "Good Vibrations" would be amazing - I'm sure Capitol claimed to have lost the tapes a few years back so they've not been booted. The 3cd set of GV stuff I have is mostly instrumental takes. After all, Brian claimed to have burned the tapes for "Fire" but there are more than a few tapes of the sessions floating about.
  22. Thanks for posting that Frosty - I hadn't heard the news. For me the most heartbreaking parts of the Band of Brothers TV series were the interviews with the Easy Company veterans that bookended the episodes and the realisation that none of those guys were going to be around for a lot longer. Winters always came off in his books and in interviews as a very humble and modest person who had lived through an extraordinary time and was grateful for surviving when so many others he fought alongside did not. I hear the words legend and hero bandied about on a daily basis but Dick Winters really fitted the bill. He was a shining example of a generation we'll sadly never see again.
