  1. A that bastion of the truth the Star. You love it
  2. Everyone knows that ghosts exist
  3. Went to see them last night in Dundee at the Beat Bar and was most impressed - mainly with the Fighting Cougars - missed them at Drakes thanks to work but I see why people enjoyed them so much, energy dripping off of them at all times The Kevins were young and didn't seem like they'd rehearsed much and didn't really get much vocal support from their mates that had come along. Their Matt Davies haircuts didn't impress and they were branded 'emowank' by an anonymous member of the audience. Slaphappy were pleasing and seemed to be having fun - good communication with the audience as well. Think they're playing Aberdeen soon? Diefenbaker were good as well and I even had a wee dance along to it but was quite boozy and forget the end of the set (no reviewers job for me then...) and they seemed like really nice guys. Must head down to Dundee for more gigs in the future. Massive thanks to Roddy for putting us up and apologies for drunken antics
  4. This was the first time that I'd seen Deadloss (Motherfuckin') Superstar so I'm not really that familiar with their material but I was mighty impressed if I'm honest. Something a wee bit different (harmonica use is inspired) from a lot of bands I've seen from Aberdeen and the sight of 5 guys having a great time onstage. And I always thought that Brian was too nice to be a frontman I thought Gold Cash Gold were pretty average really. I enjoyed the set but I wouldn't rush out to buy any CDs or anything. I'd been led to believe they were quite stoner rock and I did see it in parts but nothing like I'd expected really. Amusing accents as well and they seemed like sound guys (and gal). They need a bigger t-shirt and some boxers for the singer dude mind... Five Horse Johnson were exactly as I had expected as I've got quite a few songs on compilations etc. Bluesy redneck sounding rock with harmonica parts that could've been stolen from Ziggy's own handbook (is that why Deadloss got the support?) Four guys living for beer and rocking out over the globe. Thoroughly enjoyed them and a scolding for anyone who missed out on this night Edit - greatly enjoyed the DJing as well if I may say so Mr.Lucifer. Particularly Turbonegro and Amen
  5. It might well do but I think it'd be funnier if it turned out to be Seth instead - he's certainly nae getting ony fae Betty
  6. I'd like them a hell of a lot better if they were dressed up in farmers gear with wellies and the lot Incidentally I hear that Emmerdale is going to have a sheep shagging storyline coming up...
  7. It's all about the benjamins methinks. Record label probably wanted the song with the greatest across the board appeal which I guess is what singles are all about really. I agree with it being on of the weaker songs on the album I must admit.
  8. Jonny Santos did that at Download last year - caught a flying bottle of water, drank some and then chucked it down before walking offstage (it was the end of their set mind). Class. Hope it was water mind you...
  9. The double-disc glory of Punkorama 8 is hard to match for me
  10. Aaaah that explains why I don't remember those supports - something about Biffy gigs seems to make the fates conspire to make me late so I don't catch the warm-up bands. I missed Span and Jarcrew at the Forum and missed both supports at the Lemon Tree thanks to my beloved work. Neevermind they're the sort of hard-touring bands that I'll hopefully catch again
  11. It's been so long since this was first scheduled for release that I'd forgotten all about it! Good news indeed
  12. Maybe it's to signify Deadloss' 'less talk more rock' attitude? Or maybe no one can think of anything interesting to say about them
  13. Which gigs were those? The Jarcrew and Span ones I mean?
  14. A bump is indeed needed methinks - got mp3s from both bands and they both fecking rock. Be there early and get liquored up beeatches!
  15. I shall be there bright and early at 8pm hopefully after a few 'warmer' pints at the Tilted Wig or Archies or somewhere...
  16. Well with Broken Vomitus, Broken Sunshine and The Diuretics playing (despite not having heart any King Liar or Bill Ely) it'd be rude not to go really
  17. but sadly means I'll be working until 9 and have to hurry back into town to catch anyone
  18. Damn their eyes indeed - one-off dates in London should be abolished
  19. Sadly I only ever made it to one gig at the old Drakes which was a DJ night but it was still quite pleasing. Can't remember exactly what kind of music was played but it was definitely a pleasant mish mash of styles. Wish I'd seen more bands there like some of the 'old timers' on here
  20. Biffy are a genuine Scottish talent and since they play Aberdeen a lot I'm hoping there's a gig this year or a festival appearance at least. They seem to be pretty adept at getting cracking support acts as well. Crackout or Jetplane Landing anyone?
  21. Never did I see Driveblind which makes me wonder what they were like. Methinks I shall find out using the powers of the Internet and maybe my local library!

    ?

It's a Tuesday night the acoustic open mic night is on at Drakes and the Moorings are starting one as well methinks.
  23. Piss-taking? On this board? How uncouth! Ever since the Real McKenzies gig was virtually sold out with advance tickets I've had a strange paranoia about being left standing outside Drakes as everyone boogies down to some amazing bands that I was too lazy to get off my arse and get a ticket for.
