  2. jester1470 rather unsurprisingly i wish there were a way to save your best drawings and post em to a gallery
  3. I think second or third, that was a good day out I remember the night before too, we were all in you and Christies room with beer and possibly a playstation or something iirc. You weren't a well man the next day
  4. Fish's voice has changed a lot, it's a lot lower and definitely not the same voice now, a lot of smoking etc has helped with that, Freddie Mercury's voice changed throughout his career too, also due to smoking. Paul McCartney's voice went really shit in the 90's but seems to be a lot better now, various people's voices have just changed.
  5. There's Efes, near the king theatre which when I was a student there in 94 was the best kebab's i had ever tasted, used to be my treat when my grant came in (wow - shows how long ago it was)...
  6. When Del was visiting we decided to go for a Nazma, what a mistake that turned out to be, food was still great but they've hugely ramped their prices, and it wasnt the cheapest anyway. For all of us to have a starter, main course and rice or bread, it cost £57, that's a takeaway and including a vegetarian dish (as they're normally much cheaper), love their food but won't be going there often at that price !
  7. For anyone who hasnt got round to getting this yet: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/football-manager-2012-pc-mac-for-13-99-play-com-1127109 13.99 on play
  8. Last couple were SAS Band in London for the Freddie Mercury tribute show, then the next night the rather impressive and completely OTT and mad Bellowhead at Derby Assembly Rooms, had been meant to be going to see Motley Crue/Def Leppard but sold the tickets and got tickets to see Springsteen instead
  9. I've recently read the civil war and much as i did really enjoy it i was left thinking - they wouldn't act like that, I just can't see Stark or so many others backing the bill, I could believe it of reed Richards, he's a twat, how he ever got Susan i don;t know. My girlfriend recently got into comica in a big way through Sandman and it's helped me reignite the liking I had when i was a teenager. Stand Outs I've read so far include: Marvel 1985, Captain Britain and m13 - Secret Invasion; the Sub-Mariner mini series which involved the destruction of Atlantis, the defenders, the dark Avengers; and anything with Namor as he is by far the coolest character in the Marvel universe, one minute he's good friends with Iron man, the next he's mates with Dr Doom, will always do whats best for him and his people, a decent anti-hero.
  10. Thing is this is the second first time since 1978 they've got together to record an album with the original line up, they tried, with Rick Rubin, in 2001 and didnt get too far, so I'll believe it all when I see it.
  11. I'm slightly confused, why is there still a second Dr out there ? the Ganger Dr was killed at the end of the ganger episode. As for any other Dr managing to live 200 years without regenerating, the first Dr was 700 before his first regeneration iirc so it is possible to live that long as a time lord. I suppose because we dont see the adventures that happen in between time each Dr could live for hundreds of years and we only see a smattering of what they do, i mean how likely is it every planet stop leads to an adventure, it's a bit unfortunate that the first dr lived for 700 ish years and ever other dr has managed an average iof 3 years since
  12. Mouse things ? MOUSE things ? Ah you mean cybermats... One of the things i was happiest about was the return of the old cybermatys, missed them from the classic era cybermen, first time we'd seen them for over 30 years. The robot with the men inside was a bit of a Numbskulls parody. I thought the Mark Gatiss one was excellent, a real return to form after last years terrible dalek one, I've enjoyed it a lot, i've enjoyed the arc of it, River Song and the Rory/Amy evolution, i also loved the fact it was the death of the Brig that caused him to re-evaluate everything, a lovely tribute to Nicholas Courtney.
  13. First Gig: Brian May on his Back to the Light Tour in (I think June 1993) Best Gig: There's so many, Paul McCartney at Hampden in 2010, The Eagles in Hampden in 2001, Queen and Paul Rodgers, Fish playing with Marillion again in 2007, The Frankie Miller Tribute gig, but at a push if I had to pick one I'd probably say the first of the Mott the Hoople reunion shows at the Hammersmith Odeon, made more poignant by the news that the drummer Buffin had Alzheimers, and these would be his last ever shows in all probability (Martin Chambers did most of the drumming). Buffin is prbably best known to some as a producer having produced albums for Hanoii rocks and the Cult and even produced 3 of the songs that ended up on incesticide by Nirvana "Turnaround", "Molly's Lips" and "Son of a Gun". Worst gig: Well i've seen a few, i've seen bands such as The Darkness, the Cheeky Girls (played on the same bill as Fish once), WetWetWet, Chris DeBurgh (I actually really enjoyed CdeB when he wasnt playing his schmaltzy 80's stuff, some cracking songs he did in the 70's) , but without a shadow of a doubt the worst was Gun at the Lemon Tree in about 1994ish, really really terrible, sound was too loud and distorted, he didnt come across well on stage, just wasnt impressed.
  14. Freddie was never cool, but then again, he didn't need to be he was Freddie I think he would either have gone bald - it was happening before he died, bu that could just be a problem brought on by Aids, or he would have dark hair with streaks, the moustache would be gone now, it was pretty much gone after 86 anyways and he would still be a great singer, albeit, his smoking may have ruined his capability to do the high bits. Still wish he was here to see though. Queen manage to both be one of the most overated bands and one of the most underated, the hits are often overated, though theres a few good ones in there like Scandal, and the lesser known ones like My Melancholy Blues or Death on 2 legs, remain brilliant pieces of music.
  15. Still my favourite singer of all time from my favourite band of all time. Can't believe it'll be 20 years since he died later this year... Still not sure I can imagine him as 65 year old...
  16. Its a catch 22, worst gig but best merch sales of the tour so far. I had a guy square up to me and complaining about the way Fish spoke to the fans but tbh I didnt think he was that out of order, the noise level coming from the bar was shocking.
  17. He didnt at Keith but as you now know he did in Aberdeen The Royal was OK, wasnt the worst thats for sure, He wasnt happy with the chatting though, and by all accounts it was very loud onstage, sound carries at the Lemon Tree.
  18. I would have thought there would be a reasonable chance of a photo, he was having lots taken today at Keith, without wishing to spoil any setlists tongiht he played 7 or 8 Marillion tracks iirc, including a couple from Straws.
  19. Just a reminder for anyone thinking of getting tickets, there are still tickets available but likely to be sold out by doors. Should be a cracking gig
  20. For anyone interested, the support for this gig is Jo McCafferty, for anyone who's not heard her please go to Jo McCafferty | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos It should be a good gig, Jo is supporting in Keith and Inverness too.
  21. Stick at it, you'll get used to it soon enough, it's a great game, with huge depth BUT you dont actually have to play it with that much depth whilst you get used to it, just use the set teams, get the assistant manager to choose the best team and go with it and you'll slowly get used to what happenes and how to do what, the tutorial mode is handy too.
  22. 7.99 for this: Football Manager 2011 PC (Download) - 7.99 Delivered @ Shopto - HotUKDeals
  23. It was good until the end, he had mentioned how the industry must change and adapt to suit new technologies, then he stuck firmly to his line on piracy which arguably is part of that thing he must adapt to as his industry changes, music sharing is part of the enw situation he mentioned and isntead of trying to use potentially dangerous acts like the DE act they sould be trying to thrive within it, for a small artist they can now presell albums, presell tours, they can put out all sorts of special editions or digital editions to help combat piracy, a blame culture will not sort the problem someone will always do it, people did it with taping it's just one opft hose things and it can be overcome by making the item your selling attractive enough to have in a physical format.
  24. Mine is the pingwings, a little known 1950's kids tv show by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin of Bagpuss, the Clangers, Ivor the Engine and Noggin the Nog fame
  25. I don't feel it has overshadowed it though, there is a difference, with Winehouse theres a debate about the why's and whats of drug abuse talent etc so there is more talking about it, with Norway what is there to say, the guy who did it is nuts and its a tragedy, there is no debate, theer's no conversation to be had about the music, theres just an understanding that it is a tragic thing, i havent done any commenting on it because I have nothing to say that i feel would encompass it. It reminds me of an Eddie Izzard sketch where he says the human mind can comprehend 1 death, maybe even 10, but anything over a certain amount and we can't quite get our head round it, he's talking about millions but I think the same applies on a smaller scale to this kind of thing.
