  1. No I was asking who was still here from those days, i assume none of us are so old we can't remember these things yet... I guess the old Aberdeen-Music died when Hog stopped using the internet to get laid... I'm not sure we grew up that much...
  2. Pah - the youth of today... It wasn't like this when I was young...
  3. Pretty sure the Palace was gone by 2004... Was there ever really a scene, more just 4 or 5 bands arguing, much fun, and Hog trying to get laid.
  4. Just thinking back on the many years I've been on this site and just wondered how many people have been in from the long haul. Are there still many people here from the old days, the days of a million MMw threads and Jamesy and Ben getting annoyed on each one, the days of Stripey trolling everyone. The time we were mentioned on national TV as having porn on the site in the People's Court, Hog using the boards to try and get laid, the good old days. It seems like years since there was Shutterspeed... I remember having some epic online arguments with Betamax back in the day, those were the days. Anyone still around from the early days and reading random threads and does anyone have any thoughts and memories about those unregulated frontier days in the Wasteland etc.
  5. There's quite a good radio show on radio 4 called great lives that I usually find pretty informative for stuff like that http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qxsb
  6. This doesn't quite fit in with books etc, but I was wondering here if anyone else is a big fan of audiobooks and audio plays. I spend a quite obscene amount of money annually with Big Finish, on their audio plays, initially Dr Who (and its spin offs like Jago and Litefoot and Countermeasures) but loving their take on Stargate, Highlander, the Avengers and Sapphire and Steel too, and having listened to their trailer for Survivors that will probably need to be bought too along with the Omega Factor. I know a lot of people don't like listening to audio drama's and plays as they need the visual side of things and that they don't seem to be particularly successful in the US where people can't deal without picture, ironic because so much of the great radio drama came from the US, the Orson Welles War of the Worlds, the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes series, Vincent Price as the Saint. My other half can listen to radio drama's but doesn't like narration, if there's 2 or more people she can listen fine but she gets bored with standard audio. I also love radio comedies like Old Harry's Game, Ed Reardon's week, Clare in the community etc. Anyway I wondered if anyone else was a fan of the medium. For anyone interested some trailers to my favourite current stuff: http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/popout/survivors---series-one-box-set-953 - The Survivors http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/popout/the-lost-episodes---volume-1-934 - The Avengers (Steed version) http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/popout/the-passenger-14 - Sapphire and Steel http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/popout/dark-eyes-792 - Doctor Who
  7. It's a VW polo, we're pretty sure it hasn't had a respray job, at least we would be very surprised, it was driven from new by an old lady prior to us getting it who had done 30,000 miles in about 9 years, she had all the repair receipts etc going right back to when she got it so I think it was unlikely there was any accident that would have caused such an extensive respray.
  8. It's a franchise, I've been arguing with the guy all day.
  9. Yes they did, the car was left with them and then picked up, they did the complete hand wash. Nope the roof has never been sprayed as far as we know, and we've had it 4 years. There is some pitting etc and marking on the roof but there wasn't before, the car was parked outside our house under a tree and consequently it had a lot of sap on the roof from the last month or so, which is why we took it to them to clean rather than just go to a car wash. What we can surmise is that the sap was very tough to get off and they put on a special stuff to loosen it and then jetwashed it too hard and the stuff they had put on softened the lacquer too. The car has been pretty well looked after although it is a bit older and they're saying it hadn't and was a mess, we're taking it to some painting places this evening to see what they say about the condition of the paint, and imo regardless of what condition the pain is in they shoul;dnt have kept going if they were in doubt it would damage the car,
  10. Yesterday my other half took her car to the car cleaning place at Dobbies, when she got it back and it had dried off we discovered that as well as taking the dirt they had taken quite a bit of the lacquer from the roof Not sure how we're going to prove this but from what people have said it looks like they used the jetwash setting too high or too hot and it's stripped back the lacquer. They are of course denying everything and no idea how we're going to prove it, the garage it was at before we took it to them confirms the roof was Ok there but she didn't notice it until I asked when we I got home. The problem is I guess now there's a good chance the whole roof will need to be resprayed and possibly the bonnet too as there's a bit off there. This is going to be very pricey, does anyone know where the best place to get a quote might be ? Very pissed off, also does anyone know much about this kind of thing, they say they'll let me see the CCTV but I doubt we'll see much and I don't know what I'm looking for enough to see whats what,
  11. If that's all you think it is then you're not looking hard enough, very simple, there's solo musicians like Jo McCafferty and Alan Cynic, pop bands, country bands like the Malpaso Gang, there is variety and if you're not seeing it then you're being lazy and not looking.
  12. I think it was me, and i think I did say it would grow on you, we're a bit behind, been too busy enjoying the wonder that is the Blacklist. Though reading here the spoilers about Mycroft are no real surprise as it follows both the books and Sherlock
  13. So what you're saying is that although lots of people do this, the one that actually tries to help charities as well and puts a lot of time towards raising money should go to jail rather than those who do the same thing but do nothing for charity...
  14. What amuses me is when Jimmy Carr got into trouble for tax avoidance David Cameron passed comment on how shocking it was, yet now when a Tory supporter like Gary Barlow gets caught out, the Prime Minister says he can't pass comment as Gary's tax affair are his own business.
  15. I mentioned on the email I sent covering, i said i could get a reference from someone within the company if they liked, but I would not approach the company itself for a reference, but would happily supply references from my last few employers leading up to that.
  16. I don't dislike my job per se, I just want to be looking at doing something else, It seems a bizarre way to solicit references though.
  17. I just filled out an application form for a new job and they asked on it for references from my current place of work - to be taken up before the interview, which would pretty much end in me being sacked if my boss thought I was looking, or at the very least my life wouldn't be worth living - it would be illegal to sack me for it but my boss wouldn't care he would do it anyway and it wouldn't be the first time, you'd think people would realise that could put people on a dodgy wicket !
  18. Yes, the rumour I've heard is that they have an agreement not to play together if any of them decides they can't do it anymore and Malcolm Young had a stroke a few months ago which means he hasn't yet regained full control for playing - they reconvened last week, and he may never gain enough control to play.
  19. Great Drummer, he also played with Fish for a tour and I saw him a few times there, really good.
  20. It's interesting that despite the fact that it's the guy who created Java who did this - I don't see anybody saying they will now uninstall java from their computer and never use it. Is it because uninstalling and not using java would be a genuine pain in some cases whereas most browsers are interchangeable so it isn't a big deal.
  21. Having just seen Winter soldier, i went back and read the original story, I enjoyed the film but the original is just brilliant, I definitely think Ed Brubaker may be the best writer in comics at the moment.
  22. I discovered today that the Why Bird is Rory from Dr Who's mother...
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdk2ltV6OIs Might be worth a watch, I assume this is what you're looking for.
  24. I assume the stone circle one isn't Children of the Stones? I haven't seen it but keep meaning to get it on DVD as it's mean to be awesome.
