I really loved the first one as mentioned, but this one really was more than a bit crap. Plot didn't make much sense, some interesting ideas about the alien religion etc, but used very clunkily and didn't hold up, was this the worst episode of nu-Who yet ? Let's just say i think it'll be making close friends with Victory of the Daleks at the bottom of the polls.

So as it's being discussed on another thread, what's people's thoughts on the crowdfunding phenomenon. This is a tactic i have been aware of for over 10 years now and it really seems to be finding its place in the modern music scene. Marillion were one of the pioneers of this kind of music crowdfunding in the late 90's, and I was part of the crowdfunding effort for their album Anoraknbophobia,so it's a development i have been following since 1999. It does give artists a lot more freedom but in order to fully appreciate it and use it you need to have a certain sized fanbase to pull it off effectively and you have to have something to offer. There is little doubt Amanda Palmer has been one of the real proponents of this kind of thing in the modern music world and has benefitted massively from it, though it also brings about a down side too in that it, if anything, removes some of the independence because if they've funded something everyone thinks they have a view on how the money should be spent. An interesting way to fund music though. Thoughts ?

May I suggest idiegogo as a better route for this kind of thing, kickstarter is great but only gives the money if its fully funded, but if it's something you're definitely intending on putting out anyway but are just looking to offset some costs indiegogo gives you whatever is made if you choose to move forward with the project even if you don't make the target. Well did people enjoy it ? Well I have to say I rather enjoyed that one a lot. I'm really enjoying Clara, love the new Tardis and felt that one was a proper Who episode, where he did what he had to win through and it all made sense. With that and the news announced today about the 50th I think it's going to be a great year

I quite like the song, it manages to sound like classic Bowie without sounding too dated, I think it is a safe choice but that's to be expected after 10 years away. I would definitely go to see him live, no doubt we would make the trip

The other half got some interesting Mike Carey stuff, the DC Vertigo encyclopedia, RED, Phonogram 2. I bought the 4th No Man's Land book and got a page of original Eagle artwork from 1990 - the time I was reading the Eagle. Recently she has got the first 21 6th Gun comics, I've bought some Sigil and Ruse stuff which is brilliant.

They've always been an easy target because they were viewed as safe pop when sometimes the lyrics were far more dark than anyone realised, they were consistently good, and even the dodgy covers album had a great version of SClub7 and one of the best versions of "You're the One that i want". They remain one of my favourite bands to drive too, and seeing them live just before they split up was an epic gig, really enjoyed it though i haven't managed to get into Paul Heaton's solo career, though we will see him as support to Squeeze in December. Has made me consider doing a" top 10 artists who are misunderstood and the songs that might change your mind !!"

Not a subject i know a great deal about, however Marillion have just released a track from their new album called Gaza. The song is meant to be a view of the conflict through the eyes of a child in Gaza. What's amazed me is the backlash from Americans and the Israeli's on this, they can't perceive that it's not a direct attack on either side of the war but an examination of the conditions on one side. I knew it was an emotive subject for some but I wasn't prepared for some of the comments, including people stating that they're not treated unfairly and all lying about being poor, and they don;t need aid because there are 600 millionaires in Gaza - there must be a fair few millionaires in Scotland, it doesn't make me any closer to being one ! From the research I've done it seems neither side can particularly cover themselves in glory and I can understand that the Israeli's may be unhappy about it, but I really don;t get why so many Americans are reacting to the song.Can anyone explain why this seems to be such a big deal for the US ? The reaction has genuinely surprised me. I thought people could see the difference between a comment on the humanitarian aspect of something and the political aspect, but apparently not - has anyone else accidentally waded into this minefield before ? For anyone interested... it does go on a bit long though... Some of the comments on the youtube video show people's thoughts and some are really quite surprising to me.

We were at the Etihad Stadium too, enjoyed it but having stood fpor 4 hours to get in in the pissing rain then another 2 waiting for him to come on, I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have, it goes against everything i usually believe but I think seated tickets might have been the way forward, by the end we had been standing for 9 hour (not including our walk around Manchester in the morning) and were just knackered. Did really like him live too from what we saw but we couldnt get a good place for my gf to see the gig so she wasn't really enjoying it either. next time i think seated tickets and hopefully no rain !! Course didnt help we were also having big car problems and weren't sure if the car would start to get us home.

I dunno I might argue Anneke Wills as being the most glamorous... She was the first Who bird designed to be sexy...

Another classic Dr Who actress died today of cancer, Mary Tamm, arguably the most glamorous assistant he ever had played the first incarnation of Romana in the key to time series. Its not been a good 18 months for Dr Who companions, with the Brig, Sarah Jane Smith, Liz Shaw and now Romana 1 all died, and I think all from cancer too.

His back may not have healed overnight but apparently the cartilage in his knee etc all grew back because one minute he was having to use the leg exo skeleton to allow him to move properly - otherwise he needed a cane, the next he was able to climb the big wall etc without it, or did I miss something. it was good but it was about half an hour too long in the middle and not as good as TDK imo.

Thought I'd ressurect this as been reading a few more things. Saddened Brubakers tenure on Captain America is coming to an end as he's the only one who's managed to make the character bearable, but he is continuing with the excellent Winter Soldier. Recently been reading some Gotham Central, again Ed Brubaker, who I generally think is the best writer in comics at the moment. Been reading a lot of Daredevil from Frank Miller, through Brian Michael Bendis and onto Brubaker and now Mark Waid who is also pretty good. Mark Millar's New Ultimates Vs Avengers was really quite good but recently been working my way through Warren Ellis' run on Excalibur and Brittanic's terrible mullet aside it has been really quite enjoyable. Girlfriend has been enjoying Alan Moore's run on the Swamp Thing, and many of the New 52 stuff. Anyone else ready anything of interest ?

One that I doubt anyone had was Caroline John who played Liz Shaw, Pertwee's first and arguably best companion. On Who death news I would reckon that William Russell who played the first companion Ian Chesterton must be worth a punt next year.

I should have said the springs may have damaged a sensor the problem is no-one knows whats actually damaged yet. BTW whatever happened to the edit feature, i was going to edit my previous post and couldn;t see the handy edit button, is there one I'm just not seeing now ?

When the car slows and freewheels round a corner, ie without the accelerator on it has a rendency to stall and a traction control error comes up. I was able to track down someone locally with a code reader who read the error code as TCS U2105 00 ECM missing on bus I need new front springs, as well which might be one of the reasons for the damaged sensor. The car was fine on corners if theres some power going through or accelerating, but otherwise it will stall or lose power - though it has started to get a bit worse and has come up with the error whilst turning and accelerating in the last day or so. The WIS translates the code and gives advice as: ECM Missing on Bus Move the wiring harness at several spots and in several directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short-circuits. Check switches, connectors and crimp connections for oxidation, retracted pins and pin clamping force. So the electrical place is saying it could be a massive job to find which bit is damaged and might cost be £500 just to locate it rather than the fixing of it

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good auto electrician in Aberdeen, I've looked on the internet and have found 2, Taylors and Daun's Auto Electrical technology. I am a bit worried because speaking to taylors they basically told me it would probably take them 4 or 5 hours to find the problem at £100 an hour, let alone the time to fix it, so even if they find it in half an hour I worry they might charge me 5 hours, I just wondered if anyone has any experience etc of either of these places ?
