  1. That's very much a matter of opinion. I always thought Staley was a terrible singer, I'm not a huge fan of Amy Winehouse either but imo she was a far more talented natural singer. That's why this stuff is all opinion. I think its sad that anyone dies at 27 through their life spiralling out of control, none of us have ever had to deal with what these people have to in terms of pressure and temptations I'd guess, whether or not any one of us would be any stronger who knows.
  2. I did a new one for me today, went onto a colleagues machine, created lots of folders on his desktop called "hardcore Porn", "xxx hardcore", "Justin Bieber fanpics" etc, then took a screengrab of the desktop, I then deleted the extra folders and changed his backdrop for the screengrab. This made an exact duplicateof his previous backdrop but with my extra folders, I then watched him try and find out why he couldnt delete the folders for a good 30 minutes, too scared to go to IT (me) as they'd laugh at him.
  3. People are more open than you think, if you want to sell yourself, don't do it on the semi famous people you've worked with, sell it on the quality of your work, some people might slag it but people will hear it and they might want to work with what you have surely thats worth the slagging from people who you seem to view as beneath you anyway ?
  4. So do I generally, thats part of why I hated series 1&2 so much, he is better in the third and the first episode of season 4.
  5. There's a difference between someone saying they don't like certain bands/music and someone who is trying to tout for business slagging off well established competitors. The problem isnt in the fact your slagging them off but rather you slag them off in one hand and then try to tout for business with the next. Working with world class acts doesnt make your opinion on this any more valid than anyone elses. As a businessman, even if you truly believe what you say about other studios, you'll get a better response if you concentrate on why your good, not why they're bad. Stop slagging everyone else and just tell us why your good, not why your better than the others, because that could only make you average if they're as bad as you say, why you're so good.
  6. I have a love hate relationship with Torchwood, I hated the first 2 series and loved the third and have enjoyed this first episode. It seems very Americanised but I'd be interested to know how it's done in the US.
  7. The first one doesnt flow well because its only half the book, I think it'll be great but will be sad to see it go.
  8. I was showing my girlfriend some of the worst movies ever made so we recently watched: The Avengers - To be fair not as bad as I remembered it but haviung recently started watching the new Avengers on DDV it struck me what a uselesss Steed Ralph Fiennes was, and Sean Connery can only have been doing it for the money... Speaking of Sean Connery only doing it for the Money: Highlander 2: Sean steals the show with his comedy turn, but you know somethings bad when even Michael Ironside can;t save it - truly terrible sequel to a classic - and thats with me watching the Renegade version which cuts out all the stuff about alien planets. Not so bad: Highlander Endgame: A much underated film, nowhere near as good as the original or the TV series but enjoyable enough, anything to do with Highlander is improved by the addition of Peter Wingfield as Methos, except Highlander: The Source, which almost makes Highlander 2 look OK. Good films: After the worry of 2 bad Sean Connery films I put on Finding Forrester to prove he had done some good things since the 80's. This is a film I've always really liked with Sean Connery as the man who wrote the 'definitive' American Novel then wrote nothing else, befiorending a young protege.
  9. The guy who had the lease is on here occasionally, he's currently putting together a new venue up in Elginshire in an old Distillery (Has been for the past few years but has got his planning permission etc together for it now). The Coleburn
  10. For anyone who hasn't yet got this, a real bargain if you dont mind the download: Football Manager 2011 - 8.00 @ Green Man Gaming - HotUKDeals
  11. Lethal10 is surely Cloud I demand my 5
  12. Its a real shame that it came to this, in some ways having advertised the mystery headliner was a mistake as I think people might have bought on the original line up anyway but some were then waiting to see who the mystery person was, kudos to all involved and I hope they didnt personally lose anything.
  13. As I havent done any shameless promo here for a while - Jo McCafferty is still out there, gigging a lot less, though should have a gig or 2 soon, Jo McCafferty's Songs | All Songs | Listen Free and Download Her last album Overtaking on a Bend got some good reviews and is eclectic enough that one song might appeal out of the 21
  14. Just for anyone wondering... Christwire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It's a satire website
  15. He's not trying to make it snow, just commenting there won't be snow, which is also wrong, there is always snow on the peak of Killimanjaro... just saying...
  16. U2 do seem to polarise people, my brother who is general pretty gothy or at least rockier in his tastes always goes to see U2 and even went to the 3d cionema showing they did a few years ago, he thinks they're brilliant and often people seem to hate U2 for bono. Bono can be a hypocrite, lots of being vocal about charity and then charge a months wages in South Amercian countries, I have no doubt he does some good but then he ruins it by flying his hat first class to a gig because he forgot it etc - if poverty's that big a deal buy a new hat and donate the 2 grand to charity !! I quite like their stuff and like their greatest hits album, not that interested in most of their other stuff though might like to see them live some day.
  17. I get it, i just don't think it's very fuinny, seems to me to be a lot of cheap and even occasionally untrue sweeping generalisations about a band that is for whatever reason very popular. Never eally my kind of thing but i do own the greatest hits and enhjoy it on a Summer's day. In a world where the Darkness has reformed, i can't help thinking of U2 as a minor inconmvenience
  18. Seems a bit of a silly article, obviously they're popular because they have wide appeal, simple as. Some bands have it for a short time, some for a bit longer, U2 have managed to keep hold of theirs longer than most, it's just a kind of easy listening, unlikely to be too challenging but often thats what you want from a band, something that is just a bit entertaining.
  19. Aye, he'd told me when I met him in Edinburgh last month that he was definitely coming up, though he told me it was the first night and it was the second, so I went down last night, got him to sign my book and got a pic etc. He has been really nice and a top bloke both times I've met him recently, nae a bad guitarist either.
  20. btw It was excellent, a fun night, lots of great music and silliness and Brian may's a legend too
  21. Well that was the last in this block what does everyone think ? I think in this series Moffat has taken it from a kids show into a proper Sci-Fi show and much as I love it not sure how good that is in the long run for the show, kids are still the core audience to make it so complicated hat many adults don't get it may alienate kids who will get bored more easily.
  22. With Frank Usher on guitar and Foss Paterson on keyboard, Fish will be playing songs from the back catalogue of both Marillion and his own solo albums, with the possibility of previewing some new material if he gets around to writing it before August. Fish first came to public prominence 30 years ago in 1981 as the lead singer of Marillion and they enjoyed top 10 success with singles such as Kayleigh, Lavender and Incomunicado. In 1988 he left the band to pursue a solo career and has since released 9 studio albums with a tenth due to be released next year. Fish has also appeared in several TV series and films. He had a career hiatus in 2008 when he had to be treated for a cyst on his vocal chords, and complications from the operation meant that he was unable to perform live again until summer 2010. Fish says: Im really looking forward to this tour and getting out and about all over Scotland. The acoustic shows are different to what I have done before and Im enjoying playing all the old songs in a new way. Tickets cost: 17.50 +bf I saw this tour in October in Edinburgh and it was superb, for any longtime fan as there is a large amount of classic era Marillion played in the show.
