  1. Received my copy from italy today mr Cynic, it's a thing of beauty Well done
  2. Why ? Queen as a band arent in it, it's only the songs and they were written up to 40 years ago, that's like saying the Return to the Forbidden Planet musical shouldnt be ever done because some of the people who sang those songs are dead, but the Return to the Forbidden planet musical is excellent ! Also small trivia fact, although it is always stated as Brian May, Roger Taylor and Ben Elton behind it,. there is a fourth producer, Robert De Niro was one of the first producers of the show. Anyway I'll go, and I'll probably enjoy it, my brother has seen it at least once, possibly twice and he really rated it so well worth a punt being that he's not a Queen fan and usually isnt interested in things like that.
  3. It's not a joke, he's just very slow and it's taken him 20 years to catch up...
  4. I know there's a few of you who are fans of this great radio show, so thought this might interest you, apparently they're making a claymation series of it: Old Harry's Game - Professor - Stop Motion on Vimeo Old Harry's Game - Satanists - Stop Motion on Vimeo As a huge fan of this I am really looking forward to it the animation looks excellent Shame they have recast the professor but James Grout hasnt been very well the last few years, hence why he left the series I also notice they've got Scumspawn from the beginning so no Demon gary, which isnt a great loss, but I would have loved to have seen the scenes of him trying to impress Satan. i think Andy Hamilton is a comic genius
  5. Now, now Hog, one person's comments on a message board are hardly going to upset me or change my mind, to my mind Elton wrote the Young Ones, Filthy, rich and Catflap, Blackadder, and the much underated Thin Blue Line, he may be a cunt but he's got a great track record. As for Queen, the first band I really ever got into and still one of my favourites, they did some shit but any band with that many albums doesnt hit gold every time, Brian May's still an amazing guitarist, Freddie was still one of the best rock vocalists ever imo and I still love them, the chance to see the musical and Brian May coming out and doing a few tracks makes me happy, end of
  6. Anyone going to see this at the Theatre, I;ve been tempted to go see it every time I've been to London so when they announced it here it was a no brainer, everyone I know who's been says it's excellent so being a Queen fan well worth a shot. I know many people here mock things like it, but I'm looking forward to it and have been reliably informed there will be a special guest or two on the first night

    Your current read?

Buy a kindle, we love ours and read much more because of the convenience of it i thought I would hate it in principle but really love it.
  8. "David Hasselhoff wants to remake Lovejoy" David Hasselhoff's Lovejoy dream - Yahoo! News Madness of course because everyone knows Ian McShane is the only person who can be Lovejoy.
  9. They were a big (around Aberdeen) band of the early to mid 90's. i remember them playing a lot of places when i used to go see Guaranteed Pure playign about 94, and iirc they had a gig at the Capital for their farewell gig in 1997 (I think), I went to see David Devant and his Spirit Wife instead
  10. I did see that, but there is an original set of the Tardis from the five doctors at the interactive exhibition in London, you'd think they could have borrowed that for a day or 2.
  11. HiddenPassageway.com - Hidden Secret Passages, Hidden Doors, Safe Rooms, Secret Vault Doors
  12. Great episode, a touch of classic Who wrapped up in new Who, some older ideas explored in the books taken and rejigged rather well by Mr Gaiman, hope he does some more. My one disappointment is when they mentioned an older control room I'd hoped for a classic era one, ideally the Hartnell one with the big scanner, rather than the Tennant one, which all exploded when he regenerated anyway. Very good episode though, have enjoyed this seson much more than the last one.
  13. Bought for part of my other halves birthday so don't sell one to her Mr Cynic I'll try and catch up with you for an autograph on it when it's done, we're getting a Kitchen Cynics Vinyl collection now
  14. I'll go against the grain, i preferred the first one, but enjoyed them both then again i do like Dido
  15. I'm not comparing careers just stating that the recent output I've heard from both bands, Quo's was better as the last Dylan I heard was the Christmas album, which was beyond awfull: I enclose a clip from his Christmas album playable at the amazon download site: Amazon.com: Hark The Herald Angels Sing: Bob Dylan: MP3 Downloads Dylan is undoubtedly the more influential artist and is the greater artist over his career which is why he should know better Quo are just great fun and don;t take themselves too seriously, at least since their noses fell out.
  16. It's true, Quo are a great example of a band who go out there and do what they like, have fun and entertain huge amounts of people. Quo Rock
  17. He also wrote Alien 4 iirc, though his original story had them on earth fighting an invasion. He was also an uncredited writer on Speed and Waterworld.
  18. Quo are old but not shit, a simple thing you got wrong there, Dylan, nowadays is old and shit, find a copy of him doing Hark the Herald Angels sing from his Christmas albuma s proof...
  19. I'm, more disappointed they havent even dedicated an episode to him but have to Barry Letts, Verity Lambert and Lis Sladen. Really they should be repeating inferno which is Courney's finest hour with his evil eyepatch
  20. It's more traditional Who in that it's a bit throwaway. We've been watching a lot of classic Who and as someone who's always been a big fan of Who, I was surprised at how terrible some of 'my' era Who is (Peter Davison/Colin Baker era - it started to pick up by the time it got cancelled), people mock the special effects but it's not just that, some of the stories were beyond shocking. We watched Resurrection of the Daleks which was very poor, last week we watched the Deadly Assasin (Tom Baker) which was very good. I liked it, saw the huige plotholes,. but no worse than the plotholes in the first few episodes. I did find myself looking around to see if there were any silence around... Next weeks looks good, neil Gaiman written, I can't help wondering/hoping that he woman we meet is Romana, though it is billed iirc as the Dr's wife and apparently there are lots of references to past Who's, imo it will either be Romana or the tardis in a human form...
  21. All that proves is that there are twats on both sides of the arguement, however I do think the implication that voting Yes kills babies, policemen and soldiers is considerably more offensive, but maybe thats just me.
  22. It's been downhill since Watt and Granf shut really... Maybe there should be a nostalgia thread for Aberdeen of yesteryear...
  23. I can't beleive the "No" campaign used such blatant emotional blackmail echniques by implying that if we voted for the "Yes" campaign we'd be killing soldiers, shutting down maternity hospitals and putting the police in danger, that kind of electioneering is shocking, this win at any costs mentality that means we're allowed to misrepresent information int hat way shouldnt be allowed. If things are so bad that we can'ty look at reforms that would make a fairer voting system for the whole country why are we writing off companies multi BILLION pound tax bills, surely we should be doing whatever we can...
  24. Despite him being my favourite singer Fish has written a few lyrics that annoy me through the years: Charting the single from the first Marillion album (remaster): For anyone interested here's the song too... YouTube - Marillion - Charting The Single Yeah! Slow French kissing with the Dauphin's daughter If I fall in love now I'll be floating in Seine Plastered in Paris I've had an Eiffel Gonna make my escape on the midnight train Choo, choo to you - Choo, choo to you - Charting the single Schnapping my fingers on an alcoholiday Sniff round a Fraulein when I'm scent to Cologne All night hotel Liebling make your mark Let sugar daddy melt in his home sweet home Home is where the heart lies, but if the heart lies Where is home, is where the heart lies, but where is home? Get a pizza the action when I Romeo again Chianti see you with me, so just let him wine Juliet on the balcony, it's pasta serenade Wedding rings, I know when Venice time, Venice time To chart the single, to chart the single Charting the single, charting the single The chicks are getting cheaper on the not so common market Stockpile experience before the blond hairs turn to grey Before the blond hairs turn to grey I like to train, express myself in the universal language Ego on my face in the nicest possible way It's absolutely the nicest possible way Charting the single I got no clause in my contract, got no shares in my name I'm just charting the single in a bachelor's game Charting the single It's a solo performance on a one way street You'll never have the chance again and never again we'll meet Charting, charting, charting, charting the single ---------------------- What is this except for the revenge of 3rd form poetry?
  25. Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter are still big draws for me, will be most likely to have seen most of their fims and would go and see most of what they did, i even quite liked his version of Planet of the Apes.
