Smashing Pumpkins keyboard player was Jonathan Melvoin. He died of a heroin OD, while shooting up with the drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, which is why the drummer got sacked. Jonathan Melvoin had two twin sisters - Wendy Melvoin, who was Prince's guitarist (the one in the Kiss video), and Susannah Melvoin who Prince was engaged to, and he wrote 'Nothing Compares 2 U' for her.

Probably well known but Charles Manson and his "family" frequently hung out with the drummer of The Beach Boys, and one of the TBBs songs (I forget which one) was actually penned by Manson.

"The Beach Boys released a Manson song, originally titled "Cease To Exist" but reworked as "Never Learn Not To Love", as a single B-side and on the album 20/20."

An advertising company once approached the Johnny Cash estate with a request to utilise 'Ring of Fire' in an advert for a haemorrhoid treatment, thankfully blocked.

They had obviously read Johnny's first wife Vivian's book I Walked The Line. The late Vivian has an interesting take on the meaning of the phrase.  Read the book on Google books for more information.
