The Milner
Me and the missus are looking into getting her a rescue cat for her new flat, its gonna be hard going to see them and not take one home for myself! I dont think ill ever buy a cat or dog again, i think ill just go down the rescue route in the future, so many of them need help from people, and it just seems wrong to go and pay a few hundred for another dog, when there are thousands of great dogs looking for homes already. Im no animal specialist in anyway, but i think ive done a pretty good job with Izzy pup so far, at 6 months she no longer needs a lead, is completely house trained, does all the normal tricks, sit, lie down, both paws, roll over and can be taken anywhere without any problems, id quite like to rescue a staffy or something, just so i could see how good i can actually train a dog like that.

neepheid
We liberated Chico from Mrs. Murray's in Seaton. Christ, it's like cat jail in there. Not suggesting they're not well looked after, but let's just say that space is at a premium and you're presented with row upon row of cats in cages with "get me out of here" eyes. Brutal. The indisciplined might end up taking more animals home than they bargained for. We got our scamp with about a minute to spare - we'd just sealed the deal and he had been put back in the cage whilst we sorted out paperwork etc. and some other folk came in and expressed an interest in the wee boy. Phew!
Chris
All my cats over the years except one have been rescue. And the buying experience was pretty sketchy with the one so I wouldn't do it again. That person really shouldn't have been breeding cats. Our youngest cat we adopted from the SSPCA in Drumoak last year. She was part of a litter they'd taken i along with the mother. We'd gone along wanting a slightly older cat (1-3 years) about the same age as the one we already had and ended up going home with a 4 month old kitten. The setup there is excellent, would recommend anyone looking to adopt a pet goes for a visit.

Soda Jerk
through an agent. It says no pets when applying. but the lease says that I can ask for permission. I think most standard leases say "no pets without written permission" as standard. That usually means "like fuck are you ever having a cat in my flat, you cunt" but it's worth asking, because there are some who are willing. Some may ask for you to double up your deposit, to cover any possible damages. Landlords accepting of pets are very rare though, which is understandable really, so don't be surprised if they don't let you.
