beetlejuice
Thanks guys, glad you liked it A message to all the folks who contributed but weren't mentioned in the article: don't be disheartened! I seriously love all the tracks on the album, and it was very hard to narrow it down to just a handful to feature in the article. Aberdeen music has never sounded so great
Alan Cynic
I like the whole thing, too! Huw....the cover works well...it's a short sharp shock, in the best way, so chuffed you did it!There are still a few copies left....but I'll put in another 10 tomorrow. KarmaTsunami
I'll nip in by Kilau on my way to work. Not planning on getting any copies onto the Kilau up at the uni are you?
beetlejuice
I'll nip in by Kilau on my way to work. Not planning on getting any copies onto the Kilau up at the uni are you?Good shout, students would snap this sort of thing up! Have you also thought about getting it online and selling it via Bandcamp or anything (assuming it's WAVs or FLACs artists have sent you and not mp3s)? Alan Cynic
Putting some out to Kilau Old Aberdeen is a very good idea...when does the UNi hols start? The online thing would be fine...but, as Beetlejuice points out, the whole operation is lo-fi....and that's because I'm a bit thick about downloading etc
Alkaline
Really enjoyed the CD, nice mix of songs! Thanks for dropping one off for me Alan
beetlejuice
Putting some out to Kilau Old Aberdeen is a very good idea...when does the UNi hols start?Uni closes on the 17th December, so you'd have to be pretty sharpish. but if you give me a shout once they're there, I can get in touch with the Student radio DJs and ask them to mention it on air. Plus, any unsold ones can simply be taken back up to LBS.The online thing would be fine...but, as Beetlejuice points out, the whole operation is lo-fi....and that's because I'm a bit thick about downloading etcWere all the tracks sent to you in mp3 format, or higher quality? If higher quality, I'd be quite happy to go over the ins and outs of using Bandcamp/similar
Alan Cynic
A lot were mp3s I'll aim to get some out to the Old Aberdeen Kilau tomorrow,( if my cold doesn't force me to spend the day in bed )
Bigsby
You could still covert them to WAV. Sure, the quality's not going to get any better but burning it to CD is essentially doing the same thing.I provided my track in its full lossless glory. Alan Cynic
To be honest I don't get the whole mp3, mp4, WAV thing.......cassettes are about the top of my comprehension level (and even there I'm a bit confused).
Lemonade
I did MP3 because I don't know any better.I hear next year's Kilau album is going to be available on 8-track.
beetlejuice
Bigsby is right there actually, it could still work. Although Bandcamp pride themselves in offering different quality levels so that "audiophiles" can get their fix - someone might complain if they download the WAV format and it sounds like an mp3 But if you do decide to do it Alan, it's pretty simpleI hear next year's Kilau album is going to be available on 8-track.I, for one, can't wait! Alan Cynic
I could do a 'limited-edition' run of 5 cassettes for this one...maybe! Eight-track is out though
beetlejuice
Haha you should totally do the cassettes. They would either sell incredibly quickly, or would be sitting there for years like that one in the local compilations section in One Up... I forget what it's called. Bigsby
I forget what it's called. It's called "The Best of The Kitchen Cynics".
Ron Cocker
I did MP3 because I don't know any better.I hear next year's Kilau album is going to be available on 8-track.I can send a wav if required. Rapidshare or something, it'll be forty-odd meg.

MikeyEB
Its fine the way it isExactly, I would rather have a nice CD that I can look at than a download. Part of the fun of this for me was to contribute to something that would physically exist in the real world and I could have in my CD collection. Alan Cynic
I'm just worried that Bigsby isn't joking about the Kitchen Cynics cassette!
Old Gold
Aw no, they've GOT to stay limited edition. They're actually sought after now!I remember one year a nice lady came into the shop and bought one for her grandson's Christmas. That was nice.Plus I like the idea of people copying them for their friends, like little Christmas presents.
Alkaline
I usually end up getting one for my mum as well as she likes that sort of thing. I like how it's limited runs as well. I honestly think it would be worthwhile doing it regularly outside of the festivities as it would be a nice way of getting a few bands some extra exposure. As long as it covers costs and bands don't expect any money for it.
