If it's not called 2lander I'll be fucking pissed.

Watched a few films, mostly awesome.

Charade

Audrey Hepburn flick about a lass who's husband is murdered and his old war buddies are all involved in a scheme to steal some old treasure. Lot of fun, aged really well bar the odd "special" effect.

8/10

Star Wars: New Hope

Better than I remembered, didn't feel like 2 hours at ALL. Even the wife thought it was OK.

9/10 (I'd give it 10, but I need to rank Empire a little higher when I watch that, so based on a curve it's only a 9.)

Before Sunset

On a book tour, an author bumps into an old flame and goes for coffee. The whole movie is in real time for the next 2 hours when they have a catchup before he has to get a flight home. Fucking incredible. Such a clever film, the characters are rich and lovable, there are no annoying cheese flashbacks or any real filler material. Just completely sucked me in, loved it.

Also, has anyone seen the leaked images of the new Robocop suit? It looks fucking shit. I hope they are still going to be adding CGI and whatnot.

Wait, that's a sequel?!

I had literally no idea, I only watched it because I asked for everyone's "favourite movie" recommendations on facebook. Whoever suggested it didn't mention it being a sequel, the bastard. I hate watching serieses out of order.

xx

LOL its great as well, really looking forward to the third one. The characters appear briefly in Waking Life as well.

It's pretty balls. I'm not holding out much hope for it. I fucking love the original Robocop. There's so much satire in it about dystopian future etc, as well as the fuckloads of mindless violence. Apparently its crammed full of Christian imagery as well, though I've never really noticed it.

Might have gone a little OTT in my review a couple of years ago though. A masterpiece?

Robocop - Haven't seen this since I was a kid, and just bought if for nostalgic reasons really, but there's a lot more to this than the blood and bullets-fest I remembered. It's a real satire of the excess of 80s America, and is set in a future where the corporations and more importantly, the yuppies now control everything, including the military, the police, and the hospitals. Also the Cold War has escalated, and world appears to live permanently on the brink of nuclear war as every country appears to now have nukes - and watch out for a nod towards Reagan's "star wars" program. In addition to all this, the action is fucking great, there's buckets of blood, and the Robocop suit still look a sci-fi nerd's wet dream, even 20 years on. A masterpiece.

I always find Robocop's approach to crime prevention mental. See's somebody robbing a corner shop for $100 and he blows up everything up and deals out some serious violence. He just doesn't give a shit. I hope they keep doing that in the new one, over the top punishments FTW.

Taken is pretty decent. It does lack DVD dancing with penguins right enough. Hopefully Taken 3 takes place on an iceberg or something and they can address that issue.

The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring

Decided to start watching the trilogy through again during my day off yesterday. I've got the extended version so it lasts for a solid 3 hours. I last watched it about 2-3 years ago. It's still awesome. Sean Bean is still the best character in the Fellowship. The Orc who informs Sauromon of the deep tree roots still gets hearty giggles from me.

Skyfall

Vast improvement on the last Bond outing and one of the best Bond films for a very long time. No more irritating fast bourne edits during action sequences and a genuine evil genius baddie intent on doing credible harm. Great performances from Javier Bardem, Daniel Craig and Judi Dench. Lots of surprises too. Some very predictable and some I should have predicted.

Only bit that really annoyed me was when the gamekeeper (who overall I could have gladly done without) handed Bond a gun and said "there's just your dad's old hunting rifle". It was a fucking shotgun! Shoddy.

I went to see this at the weekend, was a good film, wife was disappointed in Daniel Craig and how he looked more than anything.

Her word were "bond should have an air of class and sophistication, not looking rough like an alcoholic." Also with the gamekeeper, for having spent his life in the highlands of Scotland, was oddly very English sounding.

At the start of the film he looked pretty classy, scrapping on the train in his suit. Then he was pretty sharp at the casino as well. The problem I suppose is that for a large part of the film he IS an alcoholic.

Saw Skyfall on Fri and I thought it was ace!

By the Way Chris: After Bond and M arrive at Skyfall they review the available weapons with Kincade. Kincade hands Bond what looks like a double barrel shotgun and says that is was his father's hunting rifle. This is an "express rifle", a double barreled large caliber rifle designed for dangerous game at close range, and easily mistaken for a shotgun.

Ah that's OK then. I'll let them off.

Saw Skyfall at the cinema last week and loved it from start from finish. Much much better than Quantum of Solace.

On DVD I watched a great film called 13. Ray Winstone, Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke and Sam Riley so pretty neat cast apart from 50 cent who cannot act for toffee.
