Hog
I can see us having to give out CC details to have a Cryspace page in the near future. Nothing is free.

Cloud
I don't think Myspace will ever be as stupid to charge for a basic signup - for bands or for individuals. Such a thing would be the death knell for the site - and I think they know it just as much as we know it. The site is worthless, it's a terrible design - but the demographic information provided is what Murdoch paid all that money for. I think it's more likely that Myspace will follow a Livejournal-esque policy of charging for premium access, whatever that may be. I notice that they've been trying to reach out with a CD, gigs (myspace stage at Download, anyone?) and suchlike - things that can bring in serious cash, that the website can push down people's throats. The thing that mystifies me - why oh why haven't they done anything to sort out the fact that the website is a total trainwreck? lepeep
counting the days till you have to pay to sign up...and when that happens, another underground space pops up, that becomes popular, and the cycle begins again... who cares? Stripey
Do you own an ipod?Do you have a blog?Do you have a myspace site?People who answer yes to these questions should be forced to wear some kind of symbol on their clothes so they can be identified and avoided, or beaten up. Oh wait, the white headphone wires...."The New Scientist reports that the NSA plans to mine social networking sites like MySpace to gather information about its users" http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19025556.200?DCMP=NLC-nletter&nsref=mg19025556.

Bass Cadet
It already got commercial when it started having adverts for the latest films and mcdonalds etc.Exactly - if a site has adverts on it then it's raking some cash in. Who cares who owns the search facility? I don't think it will change anything for the user. Maybe the ad's will change? Who cares?
Camie
I think the point in this thread is that it's becoming more of a business rather than a hobbie.
